Why not? I waited an hour or more for LFG to build a group for me. Never had to wait that long on swtor, but then, I'm not on a dead server cause I rerolled.

Well I honestly don't look for groups to do anything... but my brother seems to manage to find Hardmode groups just fine. 9 times out of 10, he finds a group to do something simple like BT and then they decide to keep the group and try for something else. Heck, my server has a very low population yet I see pugs for Operations all the time. The only time I ever see groups not managing to fill is because they're some 'scrub' guild that people tend to avoid because they wipe in Normal EV (not trying to sound elitist... but you wouldn't join a group that wouldn't get anything done, would you?).

Overall I don't see issues with finding groups. Generally guilds are great for that. 'If' I wanted to do something, I would just ask in guild chat and have a few hands willing to jump in to fill spots.

for my server finding groups is not hard, even as a dps, but to be honest I don't think they need a LFG tool to fix the issue, If you want my honest opinion the "root" problem of finding groups is the bugs that still exist in the HM's (like the D7, foundry bugs) and some of these bugs have been around seance beta, so most the time people don't bother running a FP unless its a guild group.

Every major corporation 'gauges' how much money they will make from something. A business is a business. Except the one flaw in your comments is the fact that they said they are going to release it, just not at the moment because they need to - you know - get it working.

Yeah, pugging hardmodes probably not the best idea. But I was actually referring to the normal, leveling dungeons. I haven't played for a month and one of my issues was the inability to get a group for a dungeon past Mandolorian Raiders. It was rather frustrating. It's actually one of the major reasons why I quit playing.

I'm not set against anything. I just don't see how xrealm grouping solves the underlying issues behind why people can't get groups. It doesn't. It band aids them. That's that other companies solution to everything. BW will probably do something similar though, as much as it saddens me to say. It's just to convenient of a way out instead of solving the underlying issues of low pop servers and people not wanting to play roles.

I kinda agree with tony about there not being a need, but for a different reason. The simple fact is a lot of people don't want to do the dungeons, especially the higher level ones. It's quicker just to quest then to do the dungeons, and at the 40+ point you're so close to finishing you want to get to 50 as fast as possible. I'm not seeing the need for the dungeon find because people don't want to do the dungeons. Most people on HM only want to do BT because it's fast and gets the daily done. Gearing up is easier in Ops, so there is no point in doing other dungeons. What needs to be implemented before a dungeon finder is encouragement to do more flashpoints, even when geared.

So if someone wants to group up with someone, they are on the fleet meeting someone. That is how you meet new people, make new friends, join a new guild, etc. A Dungeon Finder is just a button press and you sit there waiting for it to give you a group- you join said group and just go through the instance without talking to anyone or any interaction at all. I don't like the idea of a Dungeon Finder being implemented.

THAT'S THE WHOLE FRAKIN POINT OF IT!!! geez get it into this head of yours, many ppl do NOT want to sit at fleet looking for group, many ppl do not want to yell "lf tank/healer", many ppl can't care less about other ppl, they JUST. WANT. TO. PLAY. THE. DAMN. GAME!!!
I'm sorry I sound a bit emo, but I'm SO sick and tired of those ppl who think that we should be FORCED to group up the oldschool manual way. I'm not friendly person, I don't care about other people, I don't want to make a good impression. In fact, if you fail in my warzone/flashpoint and cost us a game/make us wipe, you'll hear about it from me in details.
I wanna just play a game and other ppl are just tools to complete it, to get to the top. And lfg tool is PERFECT for it.
I log in, I queue for a flashpoint. I play meanwhile at some other planet, doing dailies or something, I get queue, I complete flashpoint. That's it. Nice and fun.
Without lfg tool few select most social ppl will find each other, get into one guild maybe and do those flashpoint for their pleasure, while majority will be left behind without ability/will to find a group manual way. I don't see how this is good for the game overall. With crosserver lfg tool we can get into party without any trouble fast and nice.

Super easy fix for players to do while they wait on BW. Have ppl join a /fp, /ops or /lfg channel and spam away. The custome channels are universal so you can hit ppl everywhere. This seems to be catching on more and more with lower pop servers. Just need the bigger onesto catch up and everybody can find their own groups.

Its very hard to find a group right now, especially if you want to go to a spezific dungeon
    1.3 is far too late

I am afraid thats a gamebreaker for a lot of people, I can manage, but most cant.

they already said it will favor people from your server (just like the coming x-realm warzone finder), so the whole "anonimity ruins the experience" (where I agree) will not be an issue here. it will just help people who are in differenz zones find a group. this toll is needed, period.

There is a well frequented LFG custom channel in my server, but obviously most people do not have it. I still dont understand why BW did not make a simple official LFG channel, that is in by default as a "hotfix", that would at least be a good start.

Players need to quit being lazy and join a guild and make in game friends, and the problem is solved. One thing TOR doesn't need is the gimme crowd from the other MMO spilling in and demanding LFG/R. TOR has other, more important issues that need to be addressed, instead of catering to the " gimme crowd ".

This attitude expresses everything that is wrong with today's mmos. mmos are social games, if you don't want to socialize go play a single player game. Dungeons should be what you do when you want to work with other people, when you want to play alone you should do single player content of comparable difficulty either in the same game or in a different one and if there is one thing SWTOR succeeds at it is single player content. If you are going to be silent and not make friends to group with in the future you might as well just be running with NPCs since they are incapable of screwing up, which seems to anger you so much, unless its in a pre-programmed way. The whole point of group content is that other people can mess up, and so can you, and it has to be a cooperative effort to get the bosses down. If you can't stand that don't play mmos and mmos should stop trying to cater to people like you since it just hurts the core of the game.

On topic, SWTOR should NOT have a LFG that resembles WoW's where you queue, pop in, and pop out, but it should have better built in LFG channels similar to what WoW used to have where you can see other people looking for the same dungeon from any zone, contact them manually, and go to the dungeon manually. IT should be easier to find a group without having to park yourself in fleet without doing anything while forming the group, but it should still be manual.

As I recall, they said it wouldn't port you to the dungeon, it would simply help build the group.

Ultimately if BW is smart and want's to remain in the business they will have and add features that their clients want. It's as simple as that. LFG is likely one of those features. While I fully expect the developers to implement those systems, I would HOPE that they also would acknowledge and work to correct the REAL causes that make grouping difficult. Not just band aid over it until we get to the point where were looking at OPS FINDER in swtor.

I would be more focused on future Operations and Flash Points before implementing a Dungeon Finder, LFG system can make players extremely lazy though can just let them dungeon crawl to top level like most do in WoW

yes you're right, only the warzones will be crossrealm, but favor people from your sever.

well with that, I dont see why people still oppose this, its much needed, and yesterday.

There's more and more mmo's out there, there're less and less single player games. Mmos fight piracy since you can't pirate it, unless you want to play on a private server with no challenge. Mmos give bigger diversity. mmos give bigger sense of accomplishment. Don't tell me you don't feel envy or respect when I ride past you with some imba title on some imba rare mount. I won't believe you. Mmos pvp wise give you a harder enemy than usual ai, since most ppl are (well... usually..) smarter than any ai out there.
But along that mmos have alot of old annoying traditions that needs to be changed. Or at least have alternative since there are players who enjoy both. Unfortunately those more social players don't understand it. There are many players (and our numbers are growing), like me who, as I said in my previous post, don't care about other players. I have enough social stuff in my real life, I don't need internet friends. And btw I still do have some internet friends, it's the best most relyable people who saw through my anti social armor, my rude behaviour and agressiveness and became my friends anyway. Those are friends to cherish and respect. Those others who put on a nice mask but are shallow and unreliable people in the end, they don't matter. And they are by far majority of those "social" nice bunch. Say something bad to them and they won't ever forgive and forget it. That's how social and nice they are.
In any case, I've wandered off point in my righteous antisocial rage here. What I was going to say is that while I do perfectly understand that there are people who wants to socialise, find friends and build communities, there also are those of us, and you can't ignore us btw, for we are many, who prefer to play more or less alone, avoiding unnesessary grouping up. We do uknowledge necessity of grouping up, because this is mmo, but we do not want it to be too much, limited only to dungeons and pvp, while those more social people wish group content to be forced for almost everything. Thing is, ppl who like to group up can do so at any time. But what do those of us who doesn't likes it to do? That's why we need lfg tool. If you don't like it -- don't use it. Sit at fleet/stormwind/whatever and yell for hours looking for a group, nothing will change, because it's just like it now without lfg tool in swtor. But see, in wow by far most ppl using this lfg tool. So that means they like it. They prefer it. They.. Or rather, we, mostly solo players, become majority. And without lfg tool we're forced to play by old rules that we dislike. The day when developers realise to focus more on solo players is not far away. I personally can't wait for it to finally come.
