steam gifts and game trading ?

i dont rly follow how steam works but i heard there are some gifts etc. but can you actually trade games from acc to acc ? i mean like i have black ops and i would like to trade it with someone for modern warfare 2, is that possible ?

If you trust the person, sure. Beware of scams though. You need to purchase the game as a gift then send it to someone, the other person does the same. Probably easier just to buy the game you want though.

no no. i meant like i own a game already. lets say black ops cuz thats the only game i have on steam, for mutliplayer. and i want to trade it for some other game with somebody who owns that game as well. without buying anything. so i guess thats not possible is it ?

This is not possible, no.

No, you cannot give or trade a game in your library for another one. You can purchase a game and send it to another steam user, and that's it in that regard.
