Are you sticking to your main character because of rep/achievements?

Not trying to start an 'rep should be account wide!' debate but im just wondering how many are actually affected by this.
Every time i play an alt i hate seeing reputation stuff and/or achievements i don't have.
Sure, they are account wide but that little text saying earned by x, not earned by y bothers me.
So i end up going back to my old char rather quickly.

    Thoughts?

I play several alts...and I change mains based on what I need to use in the guild and just farm the rep back up. Luckily most rep is easily farmed these days so I don't pay much attention to it. As for achieves...idc usually, I just like to have my titles.

Kept me playing my rogue. Couldnt swap mains.
Hated not seeing all those full bars.

I stick to my main because I love him and the class. If i quit playing my main, i quit playing wow.

Whenever I play I am always stuck to my main character because of the reputation and achievements.

It would be nice if everything was account wide, it's something I've wanted since Cata.

I stick with my main because it's the class that made me love the game. Alts are fun and a nice change of play, but i always find myself playing like a warrior when I play my alts. Although before account-wide anything, I did only focus on my main because of reps, mounts, and achievements, now that most stuff is account-wide. I still focus on him regardless because its hard wired into my brain on how to play a warrior

hopefully Blizz will add account-wide reputations, maybe with a weekly/daily cap on non-farmable reps (to avoid altoholics reaching exalted in less time because they have multiple chars doing dailies). It's really annoying to see all those yellow bars on my alts when i only have a few non-exalted reps on my main

    my main for reference :P

My main is my ret, and I have stuck with it all of MoP. It was my main in Wrath as well. I dropped it most of cata, because i felt like it was broken, but they fixed all the issues i had with it in MoP. I still have fun playing it, have nostalgia about times with it, and im very comfortable with it, so i see no reason to switch mains.

Account wide rep from previous xpacs would be fine imo. The faster rep gains with alts is more then enough.

Yeah, a large part of the reason I stick to my main is faction reputation. I've spent a long time filling those bars all the way up and I feel like my time isn't properly represented on alts, not to mention all the sweet little trinkety-things you get from reputations and how some will give a chat dialogue as you go by. My alts feel empty and unaccomplished in comparison and usually just end up getting deleted. I'm not grinding Timbermaw or Kurenai again.

Yes, I don't want to redo all rep just because of rerolling, I rather stick with the same class.

Been maining other classes with every xpack, I don't get anything from achies so why would I care? The rep you need for stuf you do care about comes from playing the xpack so it aplies to your current main.

Glad I ain't restricting myself due to some checklist made up by devs to "expand" an expansion
Although I can understand why other people are thinking the other way around, it's just not my cup of tea.

No, but I do find myself compelled to continue leveling and doing reps on my paladin each expansion so I can continue to expand my rep achievements.

I don't even want account-wide reps, just account-wide rep tracking for the achievements that count how many exalted reps you have.

Yeah this is pretty much the same for me exactly.
I'd like to play another char in raids (been playing the same rogue since MC) but every time i get around to it it just feels empty.
In Cata i leveled my warrior first, prepared professions etc beforehand and the warrior was gonna be my new main for Cata.
Hit 85, logged out, leveled the rogue.
MoP was gonna be around the mage, loved the idea of being a ranged caster in raids etc.
Got it to 90, logged out, leveled the rogue.

I like the class, even after all those years, but the others just keep appealing to me.

For all intents and purposes my Druid is my main character as can be seen by 95% of the total account achievements I have being on him. That being said I'm willing to switch to another similarly geared character for raid progression purposes. For example, my guild managed to recruit so many healers that we ended up with about 9 in our Core roster so I opted to switch from my 572ish Druid to my 563ish Warrior who is now 571 as the raid utility they bring was seen as better than just bringing another Rogue (we're really heavy on agi classes) or DK.

As for why I stick to my Druid over my other characters it's because I like that jack-of-all-trades vibe the most even when it wasn't optimal.

If rep/achievs were account wide I would roll an alt for WoD. However I won't because of that.

I switch every expansion. Started out as a Rogue in classic, switched to Mage in late classic and most of tBC, switched to Paladin towards the end of tBC and most of WotLK and Cataclysm, switched back to Rogue (a new one) for the 2nd half of Cataclysm and all of MoP.

So, no, I've always been an alt hopper.

Not trying to start an 'rep should be account wide!' debate ...
Why my friend? Please, go ahead and start one. As if I am not already pressed by lack of free time, I also have to log my old main to obtain again the mop exalted status. The other option is level up again 60+ factions.

So, the answer to you question is this: No, I don't stick to old main, but at the same time I can't get rid of him. In fact I am forced to keep playing him and keeping him 'up to date' while investing in gearing him up. And the only reason for that is reputations.

You can grow mature enough to get rid of fanatism and you can grow wise enough to get rid of nostalgia but no, you can't grow strong enough to beat blizzard's masochism.

Nope. I've simply enjoyed my main since Vanilla. I suppose, 6 or so years ago, perhaps some of sticking with that character was due to things not being account wide (pets, mounts) but really, I've got alts to max level and my main is still the character I really enjoy working on most.

    Not really.

Did vanilla and BC with shaman, wolk with paladin. Would have switched to DK in cata but achievement and rep keeped me on my paladin (and I liked ret still. But blood DK more, and I finally raided more with my alt as my guild needed a tank). MoP launch also stayed with my paladin until mid T14. I then rerolled with some friends on another server to start anew and back to shaman.

I will probably switch main to either Monk or Hunter in WoD (depend how beta goes for both). But I'm now completly free of ach/rep as not a single char on my new server (allready having 10/11 90s on it) have as much exalted rep than my old "main".

The first step is the hardest. But once you are free from rep your wow life is just easier.
