c'mon guys, this is not a place to take digs at mods. thanks.
Good luck to everyone applying!
If you feel a forum would be a better place if you could help clean it up and keep the discussion going the right direction you should totally apply. Best decision I made in 2012 was applying for mod on MMO-C, hands down. I got to help the forum, and in turn the forum helped me get deeper into the content.
Word to the wise: The people who actually want to be a forum mod are the last ones who should be.
Well, since you have to apply only the people who will want to be moderators will get to be moderators. No one is forcibly drafted. Besides, that's not even remotely true anyway. We screen everyone carefully before deciding who can join the team and who cannot. We comb over their posting history to see how well they treat other people, how they resolve or get out of arguments, and how active they are.
Had a few very small infractions (one was my sig, the other was rift going f2p which was NOT meant to be a troll thread >.>), however I like to be able to be snarky to other people and I feel that wouldn't be a good quality for a moderator to have =P (not to say I'd get it, because I probably wouldn't for that reason lol). But I just dislike idiots.
Good luck to everyone who is trying, seeing more green names post is always a plus.
if i applied and actually made it through the application process, i'd probably never log in again.
i wonder if that's somehow related to my tendency to abandon anime series when i get close to the ending.

Also if i get the job do i get to wear a badge that says moderator?
I could apply for three but alas, still no time to do it. D:
I have over 4000 posts but that mod application requires a summary of why? Too much typing damnit !

Does mod include an un-ban from the official #mmo-champion irc channel?
