This marks the 4th consecutive expansion with a complete gameplay overhaul. WoD looks like tons of fun and I know I'll enjoy it, but what does the future look like? Is WoW going to experience another complete gameplay overhaul 2 years from now?

Some people react well to change but many of my friends who have quit have been directly because of change. The gameplay they enjoyed is now gone and they aren't interested in the newer versions of it.

I'm just preemptively being concerned about the future development of WoW and whether or not the gameplay presented in WoD will be left in the shadows despite success, or if it will be left intact while properly built upon.

I like the changes so far from what I've play. I only quested to 100 and did 3 of the dungeons. I haven't tried any of the heroic dungeon or raid testing but I'm a lot more excited for WoD than I was for MoP.

Dont worry. WoW is a cash cow nowadays. Expect content patches but no innovations anymore. Innovations will be in titan then.

I agree that the gameplay looks enjoyable and I am looking forward to it. However I am personally concerned about what comes next and whether or not the design philosophy will completely change. In 2 years from now will we be facing a completely different game even though many of us enjoyed the WoD version or will the game be developed without us in mind and evolve to suit the needs of the next expansion?

Blizzard is always going to change it up during an expansion. 7.0's going to throw half of 6.0 out of the window and half of the population will love it, and the other half will pretend to hate it(yet still be here). Enjoy the expansion and if at any point it's not to your liking, feel free to do other things. I've personally never really been offput by class changes and gameplay changes. If they do it right it just clicks, and if it doesn't click they make it click. I think MoP set a good precedent for blizzard's abillity to adapt during an expansion and alter gameplay choices. With any luck they'll solve their end of expansion lulls, and we'll all have less grey hairs about all this.

pfff... what? Innovation is finding a better way to do something. There's a lot of that. Hell i wrote a 2 page long post a couple days ago about all the underrated innovations this xpac:

Visual Character Progression, Crafting Systems, PvP Gear, PvP Reward Structure, PvP ramp up time(in the form of gearing), Guild Perks, many other things LOTS of good changes this expansion, there's no reason for that sort of statement.

Im hesitant because its a big time sink. Im starting to prefer games with an end and multiplayer that isn't so much a grind. WoD looks good though. Better than. MoP i think.

I do know people who aren't put off by gameplay changes entirely. In fact I'm one of them because I've stuck around since vanilla, on and off. WoD stands to highlight their greatest issue though and if they aren't prepared to address it I feel it is destined to repeat itself. That issue is whether or not they are prepared to build upon this expansion while maintaining what it accomplishes 2 years from now. Or whether or not they decide to establish a new strategy and change the game they've appealed too for the past couple of years.

Without a quote, I can only assume you are speaking to me. I mean WoW will be around for the next 10 years unless investors go full retard. I'm not sure how your post is relevant to the discussion, I'm not here to discuss the fall of WoW but merely its future.

What kind of argument is this? Do you know what overhaul means?!?! You obviously don't! Have you even played since vanilla? The game has changed substantially over that time and every expansion since TBC has completely overhauled every class significantly since then. Overhaul doesn't mean changing genre, which based on your sentence, is pretty much the only possible way to rationalize your statement, which is completely ridiculous.

The system in question is gameplay, incase you've been absent since vanilla. Yes it has changed substantially every expansion since TBC regarding individual classes, which is exactly how the game is played.

In regards to what? Every 2 years for the past 8 years WoW has had a complete change in regard to its individual classes/gameplay, why exactly shouldn't I be concerned that in 2 years from now the game will completely change from the advertised expansion?
