I bought and enjoyed a can of cherry Pepsi yesterday. Today I stubbed my toe on the coffee table.

I will never buy Pepsi, otherwise I'll stub my toe again.

If a business can't pay a livable wage for the area it operates in, its business model is crap and it should go out of business.

Yea the fact that this has happened in every location where the minimum wage has been increased is purely coincidence.

On serious side I think it is caused by shitty businesses which was already on edge of bankruptcy, and imo if they cannot afford a 2 dollar per hour more (if I get right information) they should close a long time ago ...

    Of course, economies of scale

Doesn't mean they won't find other ways of cutting costs, like....only hiring part time and giving "full timers" only 29 hours a week to avoid paying benefits.

IDK, when I visited Dubbo, a large pepperoni pizza with chicken poppers and a 2 liter of coke was over 40$

There are less poeople in poverty in Australia than there is in America.

Sure as an outsider things look expensive, but more of their population(%wise) can afford that pizza than ours can.

For a couple, this is even easier - $10/hour for two people at 40 hours/week is a $40K/year income, which really is sufficient for a couple to live decently.
    1. Which decade was this in?

    2. $10/hour is enough if you're in Mississippi, but otherwise nope.

The problem is that California has too much labor. So a wage rise is inappropriate

Nearly everywhere has a labor surplus anymore. How do you suppose to combat that?

Again, cali has the 2nd best job growth and GDP growth in the nation. They're not unfriendly to business.

You're full of bullshit. Where the hell did you come from that we should expect to believe this crap?
You can't afford a modest rent which would keep you out of the ghetto, food, cheap clothing and health insurance plus bus fare to get you around.

Wages and inflation rates are pulling apart. It'll reach a point where a person can't even afford food...Although I'm sure the shit will hit the fan long before it gets that far.

California's unemployment rate went up in June, just like the entire country's unemployment rate. It happens a lot in June, because of the sheer number of younger people entering into the workforce. Now, I'm certainly not a supporter of their minimum wage increase, but what is being pushed is just plain disingenuous.
