RL Gender/In-Game Gender

I'm a guy in real life and I tend to decide based on what class/race it is and what the casting will look like. For example I prefer orc rogue to say undead because, as combat, my orc swings look like I'm hitting you hard but then I think an orc male's casting just isn't what I like compared to say a female undead.

As a result of me preferring caster classes then melee I find myself playing female characters over male ones with few exceptions (male tauren and orcs). Plus I figure if I'm going to be staring at the arse of my character all night then I might as well make it a female one rather then a males. This might come across as "sexist" or whatever but its not meant to be its just the choice I make based on how the monkeys hard wired my brain. :S

Thumbs up! It doesn't matter unless someone is either playing out a personal porn fantasy or looking for someone to hit on, and thankfully both are generally easily recognizable and avoidable. Most of my WoW-friends, roleplayers and non-roleplayers alike, have at least one crossgender character, and for the former at least it is not because they want to oogle pixel-tits or pixel-package but because of the image they have for the character.

(raided vanilla as a human female prot warrior) rerolled horde because of one instance of me tanking live strat where i yelled at a mage for failing at life and he was like "you dont know how hard my class is" so i rolled an undead mage and have been horde since then.

I suppose theres another driving factor, the male be characters are too buff. I like the way they were in BC beta. im 5'11 130 lbs and prefer to play things close to my body type...of which wow has no males.

If I can get the "real" armor working I may do that, but I'm hesitant about showing THAT much skin

Completely depends on your shape, if you're a sound shape i advise showing as much skin as possible =P
but yea, completely depends on your size and shape like ^^

Probably been said before, but where's the Male/Female and play both? I play based on my vision for the character, whether I want a badass babe wearing plate wielding a 2 hander, beastly male orc thunder-pummeling machine, stealthy undead merc, or wise and fierce magic-weaver. I choose gender based on what sort of idea I have for the specific race/class combo I chose. Even if I don't rp, I like to think about the role I want my character to play when I create it.

I am a male, I play both genders pretty equally. While I don't participate in any RP, I do believe that certain class/race/gender combinations feel more "right", and that is what mainly dictates the gender that I play. Classic/BC I mained a male mage (it's not a dress, damnit! it's a mystical garment of eldritch powers and arcane lore!) and my "main" alt was a female hunter, WotLK I mained a female warrior, and my "main" alt was a male death knight. For Cata I'm looking at a male druid as my main, and possibly a male rogue as a "main" alt.

EDIT: Ha! Fun to see that the guy that posted just before me said much the same as I did, always great to know I'm not alone.

It's very cliche as female player I would guess, but I love blood elf female attack animations (any role) and therefor I almost always choose blood elf.
Second on my list is troll female as I like the chunky looks. I would never play a male character, it's just wrong.

For me it all depends on what race/class/spec i plan for it, the character isn't a reflection of me it is a reflection of my ideal for the plan i have for that character.

One thing i don't understand, how can someone think that staring at an arse of a pixelated female is a nice one or a good move? To me that just screams, i need to get laid asap.

i always end up playing a male. i try females once in a while but I don't feel like mercilessly bashign skulls in a female, i feel i should be cooking, or makign bandaids. i have a couple friends who refuse to play males, they are addicted to pixel booty.

I play the gender of the race that I think looks best, I'm male irl.. and by 'looks best' I don't mean in a sexual way (I don't get turned on by pixels)

Undead: Male
Tauren: Male
Troll: Female (Male is ugly as f*ck)
Blood Elf: Female (See above)
Orc: Male
Goblin: Male
Human: Male (Might make a female depending on the class or if I have a kickass name that fits a female)
Night Elf: Neither, hate 'em.
Gnome: Hmmm...
Draenei: Isn't it obvious? Who plays a male draenei? ><
Dwarf: Male
Worgen: Male

That said, I don't play every race.. currently undead and tauren, planning to change pretty much all my characters to male goblins because they rule.

I have two female Orcs (warrior/Hunter), 1 Male BE (pally) and 1 Female tauren (Druid).

The two female Orcs are becoming Male Goblins, the Male BE is becoming Male Tauren, and the Female tauren is becoming male Troll.
