But some stuff I like less. Mainly Baal in the Lord of Destruction intro cinematic. Other than the "ENOUGH!!!" he always seemed more nonchalant in the original, smug. Here he actually seemed like he put in an effort.
    I felt this too.

As soon as I watched this new version I felt the entire tone was completely different. Baal really did give off this air of smug indifferance in the original but in this new version he is bristling with malice.

Dont get me wrong it looks impressive but it dosnt capture the spirit of the original.

So fun to put drops into cube and back out, wtf.

Then the lack of content. Poe has 10 acts. I think poe2 gets 16 acts?
Diablo 2 could have 50 acts by now, but that would be way too much content.

Blizzard is so out of ideas it's heartbreaking.

Sc2 is now finally a game with a decent amount of content. After 3 mission packs and 2 expansions.

I will buy d2 once its on sale. But i doubt we would play it more than a week.
Okay riddle me this, but is a 29 mission singleplayer campaign considered a low amount of content? I don't see in which world the wings of liberty campaign is considered short by rts singleplayer campaign standards.

Granted you could argue that the zerg and protoss campaign should have been in the game from the get go. all three campaigns combined far exceeds the length of most rts single player campaigns, as even just Wings of Liberty is longer than most.

Still not buying it. Woke devs fucked up the Amazon design.
When ever I see some kind of progressive or woke stuff in their future products I will not support it anymore.

You shouldn't be playing or buying anything if that is the case then

Good on you for voting with your wallet. Bet you cancelled your WoW sub too?

And I bet you cancelled your pre-orders for damn near every game coming out soon?

Also one of the reasons I'm not buying it even though I loved the original. And I agree with other posters that something seems off about Baal.

I had to tilt my head at Baal's intro as well. Why did they feel a redesign was necessary when updating from the original cinematic? It was rather jarring, and not in a good way.

Sadly, it's what haopens when a different company redoes a game they know nothing about.

There's a couple weird aspects of the cinematic, Baal's redesign to being more of a red fleshy mass of a head just stands out the most. Honestly, the first thing I thought was "...wait, is Baal using white face?" In the original, Baal's face is all white, and it looks like someone stretching pale white skin to hooks/attachments on the sides of his face, his head having a more of a boney and constructed look originating from materials that shouldn't be a head. In the new version, Baal's head looks more like Diablo in terms of color and substance, with some smaller spikes on the top of what appears to be an actual red fleshy head. While it almost looks like skin is stretched over as a face in the new one, the coloration and texturing makes it look like white face, despite there being some decorations that appear to be meant to give the impression that the face is just a skin stretched over the head... but they're still look like decorations instead of functioning items. If I had to guess why they made the changes, they were going for a darker, more evil look. However, it runs contrary to the original design and demeanor, and the subtle changes make him come off more overtly malicious and less off-putting than his original design. I honestly think the older version of Baal is way more unsettling and unnatural than the new version, and I mean those traits in a good way.

While it's minor, I also immediately noticed that the body explosion at the end of the bridge is much more subdued in the new cinematic. In the old cinematic, you get the impression that his body violently exploded and the chunks flew a pretty fair distance. In the new cinematic, it's like his body just collapsed after he lost internal structure than Baal causing him to explode.

While many of the changes are minor by themselves, they do add up.

*edit* - Forgot to mention one other thing: I feel like the color shading of the original is a better fit. The original has the the color palate with the sun behind the clouds give sort of the impression of the day is ending, giving a more ominous and forboding feeling that time is running out or something is ending. The new one just feels like it's bluish-white light. While the newer one is likely more realistic if what you'd actually find, I think the original gives more of the kind of feeling you get as the sky changes in Dark Souls 3 or Bloodbourne as you progress through the game. Not sure if that was a stylistic choice or reasoning behind the original's color scheme, but I think the color scheme is still a very important choice when conveying a feeling or message in a scene.

On-Topic, yeah, i do think Baal's Act5 Intro is rather... different. Looking back on it now though, maybe its just because it was so low resolution back then?

Okay - maybe it is an uncanny valley thing.... but I think I'd be more scared to find the Amazon hiding in my closet than Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto all at once. I don't like the revamped character artwork that much.

I was thinking the same thing. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. No chance of pre-ordering this one no matter what pretty things they put out.

I mean, I doubt you're fun to be around either. 'Wokeness' culture is not a sustainable thing and is already eating itself. You don't need to look further than WoW to see it.

The actions of the progressive culture created this problem where anything non-white or non-male is a social risk. So WoW's easiest answer is to just go numb and remove all risks.

This is what the extreme left wanted: To not be "offended" anymore. Well, the easiest way to do that is to remove it all from the equation. GTFO.
    Boom, problem resolved.

Well now you want to dictate how you want to be represented. Funny how that wasn't a conversation in the first place but no, dictation is all the extreme left and extreme right people want to do. Nuance in life is beyond their capacity.

Well... this is what you get. Neither of y'all want to talk nuance? Welp, I'mma sit here and laugh as y'all cry about WoW reacting like this and you're upset about them "ruining a good game". Saw this coming a mile away.

gotto say these aren't doing it for me. maybe its uncanny valley or maybe it's that you can only do so much with the source material, but at quite a few points the anatomy just looks off and the faces just don't convey emotion quite right.

looked better in my memories (which it really shouldn't, the expectation is that it looks the same and then you go back to watch the original and see there is actually a massive difference.)

I think my only gripe with these is that Marius doesn't seem to have as much emotion in his expressions or body language as I would like and as he seemed to have in the originals. He seemed more mentally tortured before. Other than that I think they did a really nice job and overall I love these. I too thought Baal seemed off until I went back and rewatched it and realised just how similar he actually looks, I just never noticed a lot of the detail in the old version. That's just me though.

Not the first time the blood/gore has been toned down for a remastered Blizzard game. You can definitely see the difference between the original and "reforged" versions for the WarCraft III introduction cinematic.

Actually it shows how gorgeous it was for such an old video at its time and still looking way better than you are trying it to look.

While i actually believe remastered has a different feel, i dont dislike it either. And for the tech used in it, its not that crazy of a difference you are trying to pretend. At least artristically.

That one video hyped the shit out of me back in the day and i still believe it looks great for its age.
