Update - People are wondering how newly level 80 characters will be able to do anything with their level 10 or level 20 gear. The answer is probably in the new ilvl 232 uncommon armor sets + weapons introduced a while back on Patch 4.3 PTRs. However, this is pure speculation and we should probably sit tight and wait for the official announcement.

Scroll of Resurrection Revamp - Free lvl 80 Character and more!
The new Scroll of Resurrection revamp seems to be on live servers and includes a free level 80 character and a free character/faction change for the person you're bringing back to the game! We will probably get more information from Blizzard very soon.

We can only assume that the Spectral Gryphon and Spectral Wyvern Mounts teaser from yesterday means people doing the recruiting also get nice perks.

Thanks to Kaeh for his forum post!

I sure as hell didn't either and here's why:
I spent 1-80 on my alt Holy Paladin queuing up as a healer spamming Exorcism/Holy Shock and getting top dps. Now, I'm pretty sure that's not how a real end-game Holy Paladin works.
Then there's my Resto Druid. I only had to keep Wild Growth on cd to keep everyone alive . . .

Then when Cata first came out, or more pointedly, when Cata talents first came out. We were all level 80 with no idea how our new skills work but the world didn't end? (Oh wait, it almost did haha).

Lastly, a person who can't learn how to play a class by the last 5 levels sure as hell won't learn it in the first 80 levels - not to mention that you don't get that all-important last tier talent 'til level 69 and you don't get that all-important Mastery 'til level 80 anyways. Long story short, "how" you play your class from the early levels is vastly different from how it should be played near end-game.

I like this, some real incentive for returning players. Saves money, time, and get to be moved to a friends realm/faction for free. Very nice, but how many subs are gone for 1Q 2012 for them to get this out? Anyone know.

Free 80... What's the purpose of returning if you don't have anything to play then?!

Blizzard is not stupid, just desperate. Reminds me of "massaging the numbers" around Enron era. This is just about massaging subscriber numbers and keeping SENIOR EXECUTIVE/NON-EXECUTIVE JOBS. SWTOR is in stable condition. Despite doom and gloom people enjoy it and activity is robust. I am on an average server in SWTOR and have no problems finding people for PVE content. WoW is on decline. There is no denying that.

Seems about right for starting to level to 85.

Well, obviously, Bioware/EA must be desperate, no? This is one of the most laughably stupid threads I've seen in a few weeks. And that's really saying something.

I have been paying and playing for 7 years, can I have a free xfer to join some new friends? NO.
I have NOT been paying for 3 months can I have a free character, xfer and faction change for an old character? YES.

    Well done.

    1. Ya you did you learned how to heal and how*dungeon*concept worked. It isn't a complete way of how things work at 85 just an idea.

    2. I knew exactly how my talents worked because i read up on them.

    3. Yes you will learn it in the first 80 levels. I played my friends paladin from 80-85 then I leveled my own 1-80 and i had a lot better idea how a paladin worked.

What Bioware is doing is not desperate but smart. Instead of blindly offering a free trial or free until level x play like WoW does, Bioware is offering its paying customers an opportunity to give their friends a taste of the game. I had several people I know in WoW ask me about SWTOR and that is exactly what I will do.

I think you missed the part where I used irony. I don't think either offer is desperate. I'm laughing very much at everyone who does.

  1. mmoc2b1dc9da0d's Avatar
but oh well, seems stupid, i quit wow few months ago to get back playing RIFT, i dont miss wow, but this.. seriously, my transaction page = subbing each month since 2006 + 72 character transfer/faction change/race change (before flaming, yeah i PvP'ed alot and got IRL money for boosting ppl in arena, and i went from different top end raiding guilds)
  1. Genericmembernam's Avatar
How about some specials for transferring servers/faction change...my server is crap...my guild left...I am thinking about quitting wow...I know a server with my friends playing that I would love to transfer too...they are horde...cost to transfer only 3 of my mainly played 85 around $200. Quitting wow for a bit seems more beneficial to me. Maybe if I quit long enough I'll get a free server/faction change out of it? What do the people that pay their subscription every month and have played for years and leveled many toons (the hard way) get? Give me some discounts on changing my old worn out toons into something nice and shiny or on a shiny new server.

MWF2 Was pretty good, but without raids it just didn't last.

It's a different style of game. It's intended to be a PVP game - It's in the title - "GUILD WARS".

Oh and BTW as with people who used to by their toons and to some extent BOA speed leveled toons they just don't know their toons as well.
