Blizzard Trademarks "Corgis Unleashed" (Okay, not really)
It's time to end the fun party we've been having for the past 24H. As it turns out, it's pretty easy to add whatever the hell you want on a .gov website. According to this new page, Blizzard just trademarked Corgis Unleashed, a game that according to our sources would kind of look like this.

Edit: Apparently the original news was too subtle, the "Corgis Unleashed" trademark was registered this morning for fun, as it turns out, there is absolutely no check and anyone can register something under Blizzard's name. This is an application, not a confirmation, you don't even need to pay the $275 application fee.

We probably jumped on the bandwagon a little early and I spent the past 24H double checking stuff since it was basically everywhere, I guess today is just not the day. Sorry guys, going to call the whole The Dark Below thing a hoax.

I've been sort of wondering for a few years now why Blizzard doesn't just trademark eight-to-ten 'titles' in the run-up to Blizzcon, some silly, some not. It's 275 bucks to file a trademark and heaven knows they have enough catch phrase type things they might want to reserve along with an expansion name.

Corgis Unleashed....ha ha ha. Well played. Grats to whomever thought it up. Although a DOTA game with nothing but Corgis for characters would undoubtedly be all the rage for a while.

I personally think that this is a way to buy time. I think they want to throw us off and make us think its a hoax. I think everyone who jumps on the Dark Below is a hoax bandwagon is going to regret it later on. I don't think its fair to end speculation on the dark below either and closing the threads. Especially if it turns out to really be the expansion. Which I am sure it will be.

If you search for Blizzard Trademarks you will see that those 2 are not listed =/

The only way it is linked back to uspto.gov (the trademark office website) is that someone filled out the online application form and saved it. The application was never submitted to the Trademark Office officially, as to do so, you have to sign the application under some severe penalties (perjury, etc.). That's why the application does NOT show up in the official trademark office database (TESS) when you search for it or for marks owned by Blizzard Entertainment.

Also, after looking at the "Dark Below" image from yesterday, the top of it indicates "TEAS Plus" - which means that the description of goods and services has to be selected directly from the USPTO's manual (i.e., you can't use your own description) but the description of the "Dark Below" mark is not one that's found in the manual.

TLDR: "Dark Below" is fake and is not a real trademark application filed by Blizzard.

From now on we will never believe any other trade mark

Corgis Unleashed is obviously the real name for Titan.

They might but why would they really? The longer they keep quiet the more people will talk.

Yeah... I'm remembering the number of misleading non-denial denials from Blizz after MoP leaked. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this is more of the same.

Corgis Unleashed will clearly be the pre-expansion event

I'm pretty sure The Dark Below is real, and they are doing things like this just to mess with us.
Remember when they added worgen and goblin halloween masks before Cataclysm was announced, then realized what they did and added vrykul masks.

My big question is where MMO-C got the "Dark Below" application images from. Seems a little hasty to post that type of information without actually going to the source (US Trademark Office database) and seeing whether it existed. ALL filed trademark applications will appear in the database a couple of days after filing. I was immediately suspicious after not being able to find the application there.

Maybe mmo-champ is paid for saying "The Dark Below" was a hoax but it really isn't. I was getting pretty pumped tbh

It might be a hoax. They might be desperately trying to stuff the genie back in the bottle. Probably a 50% chance of either. I'm just disappointed that the forum conversations are all going to revert to pissing and moaning about the online store and other useless topics.

They wont confirm it either way. Blizzards philosophy on fans is that they are a lot like mushrooms; feed them shit and keep them in the dark.

+points for those who get the reference.
