WoW Token Releases April 7 in the US - $20 or 30k Gold
The WoW Token is finally here this week!

  • You can purchase the WoW Token with gold without an active Subscription.
  • The gold price for tokens is set by Blizzard based on supply and demand, not by players.
  • Purchasing a WoW Token from the AH makes it Soulbound - it cannot be resold.
  • The Token grants 30 days of game time.
  • You can only buy 10 Tokens each month.
  • Tokens listings are region wide and are not limited to just your realm.

The WoW Token will be available for $20 USD/$25 AUD from the in-game Shop, and will be set at a starting price of 30,000 gold in the Auction House across the Americas region. From that point forward, the gold price will automatically fluctuate based on player supply and demand. To start we’ll be limiting the number of Token purchases to 10 within a 30-day period, but this limit may be adjusted over time. While Tokens will be available immediately from the Shop, please note that there may be a delay before Tokens put up for sale on the Auction House become available for purchase with gold.

We’ll announce additional regional details closer to the launch of the WoW Token in other regions.

How did you manage 22k? The prices haven't dropped that low at this point. Many of us have been monitoring them all day and they are the same across the entire US.

Correct. Players will always get the price they were quoted upon placing the token in the AH.

Snagged one at 26.5k gold. Will check again in the morning to see if they're down to 20k for another. My subscription ran up today, cheers to me!

It makes me chuckle all the people saying it was going to jump to 100k gold seeing as it dropped to less than 30k on opening day lol.

My token is still sitting there on the AH waiting to be bought and it's been over 5 hours. It gave me an eta of 30mins - 2hrs... the last 3 hours its been "Estimated time to sell < 30mins"

There's no demand for this thing, but I'm glad I got quoted at the time it was the highest anyway.
When you put it up, it'll be priced at the current market. So yours will be there until the price rises again. When it goes back up yours should be closer to the queue of being sold.

I don't think that's how it works. If that were the case and the price never hit 30k again, it would be up there indefinitely. Others are complaining about theirs not being bought as well in trade.

Yeah, I was one of them and I can admit when I am wrong. I still dont´see it, what can you even buy with gold anyway? I was saying they would be 60k-80k. But wow, I am loving this, so now I need to figure out how to get all the RAF pets from this somehow.

Except from what I've been hearing from others and the way it look like it works is if you put it up at 31k your token stays there until it rises back to that price and all the new ones for 25k are sold first.

With a new patch you have a new tier...with a new tier you have new BiS stuff at BMAH whose value in gold is never as high as during the first couple of weeks during a patch. Same counts for new gems, new enchants, new pots etc.. So demand for gold will be much higher too. Which will result in more tokens on the market. Might be pretty much in balance...

Maybe credit card fraud? Buy tokens with stolen credit card, sell them for gold, wash the gold the same way china farmers always do it and then sell the gold for money. Then you got "clean" money. The loss in that process is likely less than the mafia usually has while cleaning money and you get the money faster...and the only thing trackable is your changing IP.
And no, this was not a suggestion. It was just a crazy idea why there are so many tokens.

You can make an US trial account, make level 1, run to AH and check the price.

But yeah, some people are at work, where they can't log in any version of WoW, so yeah, it's good to observe the trend

BOE epics, BOE mounts, vendor mounts, pets, savage bloods, bigger bags, gold challenge mode runs, BMAH, list goes on. Remember that the kind of people who are buying gold are likely people who don't play that much which means they don't have very many of things most of us would take for granted. Someone whose always dreamed of having, say, a Grand Expedition Yak and has more money than time can finally get one now but it's going to take multiple tokens to get enough gold for it. Same for something like getting a full set of stage 4 crafted gear, 180 savage bloods is a lot for someone who doesn't play that much but has more money than they know what to do with.

I don't believe for 1 minute the price is based on actual supply/demand. It's just blizz setting the prices, there is no way there are more tokens for sale than people who are buying them with gold. Who the hell would buy a 20usd token and sell it for 20-30k gold? People who want to buy gold already do that through private sellers, you can buy 100k gold for 30euro, 35-40if you go through the mainstream sites. They don;t even ban you for it, they ban botters/hackers who use stolen cc's. Everyone wants to buy the tokens for gametime, havent heard of many who are wanting to sell them but somehow the price keeps going down :S

Only explanation would be stolen cc's mass buying tokens and selling them for gold so they can sell that for real money and launder the money that way.

Not really sure how they could "launder" the money that way. Once you buy a game time token from the ingame store it's automatically placed on the AH. So there's no trading of it and once someone wins it, it's automatically bound to their account. So unless I'm missing something I don't see how it could be laundered.

Secondly, you only hear of people talking about how they are going to buy it with gold because most of the vocals (Maybe 20% of the population?) are rich and of course would. The majority who don't say anything are the ones buying it and you don't hear from them because they don't talk really. So there can definitely be a good 60% of the population selling them, while 20% is buying and the other 20% just don't care, don't know, don't want to bother with it.

He's not dumb. He's doing it for anyone who is interested in Day 1 statistics, who can't log in for whatever reason (school, work, real life, not in US Region). There are a lot of people who are interested in seeing how this trends and fluctuates so they can get a small idea of how it will go from here. Prior to yesterday most thought it was going to go from 30k - 100k which obviously didn't happen.
