All this is telling us is that that it'll be mid-April before it's even on the PTR. Seeing as PTR cycles are roughly 2 months, that puts this at a roughly June launch. Even assuming a June 1st launch, that means we'll have been on this patch for 216 days (over 7 months) since the expansion launch or 175 (Almost 6 months) since the raid first dropped.

If there are only going to be 2 patches a year, there needs to be enough content to last that entire time that actually keeps people entertained enough; not slog grinds, not "Just do the same content but slightly harder", actual deep, evolving content.

    For Blizzard? Yes.
And to put this in perspective.

    • TBC: Release Jan 16th. 2.1 May 30th (4 and a half months). 2.2 Sept 25th 8 months after release)
    • WotLK: Release Nov 13th. 3.1 April 14th (5 months). 3.2 Aug 4th (almost 9 months after release)
    • Cata: Release Dec 7th. 4.1 April 26th (4 and a half months). 4.2 June 28th (almost 7 months after release)
    • MoP: Release Sept 25th. 5.1 Nov 27th (2 months). 5.2 March 5th (5 and a half months after release)
    • WoD: Release Nov 13th. 6.1 Feb 24th (3 months). 6.2 June 22nd (7 months after release)
    • Legion started the .5 patches
    • Legion: Release August 30th. 7.1 October 14th (1 and a half months). 7.1.5 Jan 10th (4 and a half months after release). 7.2 March 28th (7 months after release)
    • BFA: Release August 13th. 8.1 Dec 11th (4 months). 8.1.5 March 12th (7 months after release). 8.2 June 25th (10 months after release)
    • Shadowlands: Release Nov 23rd. 9.1 likely late June (7 months)

I expect we may see a tier cut from Shadowlands so they can focus on the next expac by the end of the year.

Well, to be fair until it's actually out there's no guarantees, and it's only an announcement for the PTR, no actual release date yet.

Inb4 fanboys come with "but covid" excuse, completely ignoring the fact that most of the industry has managed to adapt long time ago. The pandemic didn't start 2 months ago, it started over a year ago now and if Blizzard failed to adapt during such a long time then they are a joke of a company at this point.

Dont allow incompetent management overuse the pandemic excuse. It made sense 6 months ago, it makes absolutely no sense now.

EDIT: Even using covid as an excuse to delays is a spit on people who had to shut down their businesses because they are not in such comfortable position to just continue functioning remote.

Most of the industry? Did you even see the massive amount of delays covid caused? Not only in the video game, but also other media producing industries like film?

Everything with Shadowlands has taken longer so far, the usual 2 months PTR testing seems very unlikely at this point and it will be probably release mid july/early august.

adapting and getting back to the same level of productively are not at all the same thing and a ton of the industry hasn't gotten back to pre covid productively and there are delays every where.

TBH i hope they will stretch content a litte and make sl a 3 year expansion and release 10.0 late summer 2023. They could add some more content for 9.1 or 9.2

I think it would be better that way then rush out 9.2(and maybe 93.) and rush out 10.0

I mean I can’t speak for everyone but I know my guild is still progressing through mythic CN. Also compared to mythic Uldir bugger all guilds have cleared mythic CN. It’s been a significantly harder first tier

Nah WOD was a train wreck that was so bad they flat out abandoned it. Shadowlands has a good foundation to build on but they can't pump out the content as quick as they have in previous expansion (it's almost like there is some global event that might affect their productivity...).

I would rather than a bit longer between patches and good content than quicker patches that are filled with dross. Unless we want another selfie cam patch?

Also worth noting that TBC had both tiers 4 and 5 at release right? So like 5 raids? Not that many bosses, but still. They had quite a bit of content to get through like the attunement questline plus tiers 4 AND 5. Seems crazy now, like I don't think I even started raiding seriously until Black Temple was already out...

Bellular is bloody awful. You can tell he just churns videos out just for the sake of clicks (quantity rather than quality).

God I hope not. SL is not even remotely interesting enough to be that long. The only reason to stretch and expansion that long is to make room for a complete revamp of the game both in terms of zones and game systems. Granted with the state of the world it might be a good idea, but they just revamped the leveling system, so I doubt they would throw away chromie time after one expansion.
