Has SWTOR inspired you to try other Bioware products?

During my two month stint in SWTOR I enjoyed the story element.

I picked up KOTOR on Steam for $10, but didn't really get in to it (maybe I didn't give it enough time or am too much of a graphics snob).

A couple weeks ago Amazon had Mass Effect I and II on sale for $5 a piece. I snatched them up in an instant.

From the moment I picked up Mass Effect I was hooked. I liken it to playing it to playing those great adventure click games from the likes of Sierra and LucasArts. Games such as Space Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Maniac Mansion, Full Throttle, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, and The Dig.

I played through Mass Effect and am now in the middle of Mass Effect 2. I can definitely see the Mass Effect and KOTRO DNA imprinted in SWTOR.

I'm thinking of trying out Dragon Age after I get done with Mass Effect 2 should I not succumb to the hype of Mass Effect 3 in a week.

Da:O is an excellent game. I sunk at least 100 hours into it not including dlc. You'll get mixed reactions about dragon age 2. I personally enjoyed it immensely and can't wait for the 3rd one. It's cheap now should only be like 20 bucks and its worth it IMO.

No, in fact I am going to stay away from Bioware games due to SWTOR.

No. It did the exact opposite. I'm so bored with TOR's profound lack of creativity that I canceled my ME3 preorder.

SWTOR is a great game, albeit with some short comings (just like any MMO). They have yet to release a bad game (although Dragon Age 2 isn't their top form), KOTOR was great back in the day (still is) and SWTOR ties into it well.

I only played a small amount of Mass Effect so never really got into it myself.

No not at all really. I dislike maybe the day 1 DLC for mass effect 3. And dragonage 2 was an incredible dissapointment.

But generally speaking with SWTOR they proved to me:

That they are still incredibly good at RPG story driven games. Only not good at producing MMO's (mostly looking at PvP)

Will they learn from this hopefully they will. But this one failure with MMO's is no reason not to buy games like mass effect 3 when looking at how good the story in SWTOR was and ofcourse how good mass effect 1 and 2 were.

This only proves for me that their writers (and the voice actors) are still very good.

At least for me, the newer Bioware Games aren't that well in the gameplay department, and if weren't for the story, i would probably not have touched them.
All games basically use their "glorified" dialogue-wheel and then it comes down to "wheel-looooonglineargameplay-wheel". At least in the singleplayer games you had side mission to go away from the linearity, SWTOR didn't do that.

Well, let's see what they do with CC:Generals 2, and if they can do some nice story telling in it. The wheel at least won't fit that well into a strategy game.

People expect way too much out of a video game nowadays. Games don't need to brush your teeth, clean your room, bathe your dog, do your dishes and shine your shoes.

It's not going to be the Edmonton Bioware developing Generals 2, it will be done by the same company that did the last few horrible C&C games. EA just renamed that dev house to Bioware Victory.

I don't play many games; I'm very selective about what I'm going to waste my time on. In the last year I've played WoW, Skyrim, and TOR.

And... TOR has inspired me not to buy any Bioware games. I've never played a BW game before TOR, and I won't play a BW game after TOR. Not to say TOR is a bad game, though, just... not something I would do again, if I could turn back time.

You must not PVP. The PVP aspect of this game has made me avoid all Bioware games in the future.

It's the opposite for me, SWTOR being a Bioware product is what got me to try it.

I am actually even more wary about Bioware games after SWTOR. Between that and Dergen Age 2, I am concerned for Mass Effect 3.

I've played almost every one of Biowares games, and I wasn't going to order ME3 until I tried the multiplayer beta.

    KOTOR 1,2
Jade Empire (They need to do a sequel to this)
    DA O, 2
    ME 1, 2
    Baldurs Gate 1, 2
    Neverwinter Nights and both xpacks

    So yea...

What this guy said. SWTOR is underwhelming at the moment.

Jade Empire was so amazing. Swtor has made me pretty wary of ME:3 though.
    <-- That is otterly adorable.

Wow, out of 20 posts on the front page, 9 of them are disappointed with SWTOR. That's 45% of the people posting in this thread. And yeah, I agree with all of you, especially the part about ME:3 and it having a shit ton of DLC day 1. I think one article/blog/video I saw, mentioned that if you were to buy every single piece of ME:3 related merchandise, you'd be spending over $800.

    Capitalism and corporate greed, much?
