Er. That $1200/mo for a 1bd would be cheap most anywhere in New York City, and I don't mean directly in Manhattan. "Skyscraper in New York" is in the nosebleed rent area, usually 3500/mo and up to supply the proper perspective. Cost of living is going to vary by area and minimum wage should reflect this.

Yeah, I'm in a Maryland suburb of DC and my one bedroom (which is nothing extravagant) is $1650/month. Spending $1200/month isn't anything unusual in many decent sized cities.

Many if not most people do not have ready access to libraries.
