trump needs to come through on that.

This is the exact opposite. Millions will lose insurance.
The Health care Choices Act would be a fine replacement. It'll appear before long because the house bill isn't going to make it in the senate. They have time to make something decent.

They have had 6 years to think of something of a replacement, and this was all they could come up with. Sorry, but they cannot make something better than the ACA without going to single payer. They won't because apparently socialism is bad to ignorant idiots.

    "Health Care Choice Act
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Health Care Choice Act is a bill that proposes allowing health insurance companies to sell health insurance across U.S. state lines."

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Yeah, allow insurers to sell across state lines. That will fix everything!

Here are some facts for you. The ACA already allows insurers get approval to sell across state line (although Trumpcare doesn't despite all Trump's bullshitting). And will selling across state lines solve? Nothing. It probably won't hurt, but it won't help either.

Keep your eyes on the fucking prize: Adverse selection. The entire enterprise of health insurance is about adverse selection. More specifically, how to fix adverse selection. ACA does it with a mandate and subsidy. Trumpcare is an adverse selection nightmare: cuts to subsidies will drive the healthy out, the 30% penalty will discourage healthy people from signing up again, the result is an increasingly sicker risk pool and hence a price death spiral. Every healthcare proposal must be judged on what it does to adverse selection.

I highly doubt that even the tax cuts for the rich and insurance company executives are going to be removed from this bill.

It just wouldn't be a Republican endorsed bill if it didn't give tax cuts to the wealthy.

It's just mind-boggling that on this forum we have many left leaning folks who make the $250,000 household income to get the 3.8% tax break this proposal would give them yet have compassion enough to realize it's at the cost of their fellow Americans' healthcare.

And right at the same time we have a whole lot of right leaning folks who have their heads barely above water thinking this is the greatest thing in the world because they believe it's those in poverty who are making their lives miserable...and they should suffer for it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you're engaging in a behavior that helps very few at the top while having the potential to cause a great deal of harm to the majority...does that not make you a sociopath? (Not You specifically...a general You)

No I honestly I think they are just disconnected a lot of people in congress are wealthy and their parents are wealthy they have no clue what it is like for people who aren't rich. I have worked with several people like this it's not that they are bad but to them regular people might as well be aliens.

The fundamental issue with rising costs can be solved by bringing healthy people into the marketplace.

The individual mandate wasn't good enough, and the tax penalties are not strong enough.

This 30% premium increase is even weaker.

Oh I agree wholeheartedly with the statement about Congress and being affluent nearly their entire lives.

The sociopath part was more directed at the just-barely-living right leaning folks on this forum that are simply championing this proposal because it's Anti-Democrat despite the fact that it has the potential to harm a large number of people.

The best way to fix all that is to go single payer.

Ryan is on TV right now pretending like our healthcare system has any semblance of a free market system. The leap people who support this shit have to make that the "market" will all of a sudden benefit consumers "because competition" is an amazing practice in obliviousness.

Yeah... couldn't watch much of that. Too cringeworthy. The graphs he used where so misleading....

Poor Paul Ryan....not looking so smug now are you!

Anyone else had trouble keeping their eyes open during his Trumpcare slideshow?

Doesn't the new plan make it so Health Insurance isn't mandatory?

Theoretically someone who is healthy could stay off health insurance, and then, if something happens, pay the 30% penalty if needed?

Yup. Which is why costs would go up, because healthy people wont be in the insurance pool.
