While Heirlooms do serve that purpose, they don't grant nearly enough experience to make up for this being your nth alt, I'm all for some kind of "Veteran" system for this exact scenario.
Sure, but this is Blizzard, the game still makes enough money to ignore the complains, only shit games that barely make any profit end up with things like that to retain the playerbase.

Blizzard loses subs every expansion, game is old and boring, repetitive too, people dont enjoy it as much, even so it goes back to 10m subs every expansion launch for a few months.

Which is more than enough money to say "i dont give a fuck, you are gonna pay 13e to play 1 more month to finish leveling and you are gonna like it".

Its also more annoying when there is a crowd of people that go "LEVELING IS THE GAME TOO" in World of Warcraft, were endgame is the only relevant fun game in it for the last 12 years or so.

I haven't tried dungeons since the patch first came out. At that time people were wiping from 2 packs of trash and on bosses, and healers went oom all the time. Things may be different now, I'll have to try on my Horde Allied Races.

    It's about having an alternative.

If you already quested through every god damn zone 3 or more times it isn't fun any more, you have seen it and it isn't of interest for many people.
WoW has so much to offer and do in the endgame....

I did about 6 dungeons on my High Mountain shammy. And leveled 7 levels within an hour or 2. That's not slow. If you hate leveling so much, you could boost your toon. But you would miss out on heritage armor. But if you hate leveling so much it might be worth it?

Firstly, why would i level again? Sure, not to pay race change.

Secondly, i have done all those quests before, why would i want to go over it repeatedly and in slow motion cause someone else thinks its a good idea?

Thats why leveling changes are bad.
We're not making you do anything. You want the reward, so you have to earn it. If levelling takes you too long then you don't want the reward badly enough.
The most difficult thing to do is accept that there is nothing wrong with things you don't like and accept that people can like things you don't.

Yeah, sure, I can fully agree that there are a few quirks in the system, some level brackets are quite hard and some are really easy etc.
That said, leveling doesn't take too long, not at all...

It took me less than 60 hours game time to level from 20 to 110 on my Void Elf Shadow Priest.
    What I had/did:
    - I did nothing but solo questing (except for WoD)
    - I had a full set of heirlooms, including two rings
    - I had all types of flying
    - In WoD I used the Garrison exp pot along with flying to pick up treasures and do the occasional Bonus Objective
    - In Legion I got to do one Invasion before reaching max level

So I basically did no grinding, glitching, or exploiting.
I'm not saying that it doesn't take longer than it did before the patch, but it still doesn't take TOO long, this is still some of the fastest leveling we've had since the game first launched.
It also feels like a breath of fresh air to do quests again, rather than spamming dungeon queues non-stop, and being able to stay in a zone until you feel like you're done with it is great, and also reduces travel time a lot.
Maybe questing feels like a breath of fresh air to you but not all people enjoy questing as much as dungeons. At the end of the day, options have been taken away and that shouldn't be celebrated. The forced path may suit some and lucky for you if it does but lots of people are unhappy and that needs to be listened to.

You're comparing time spent leveling to time in a raid or time pvping? Get the fuck out of here.

I have leveled two chars from 20 to 100 and a few other from 7x+ to 100, and I can say it's a nightmare if there were not some cheesing mechanisms known by now (heroic instances, dungeon boosting). Even with cheesing it takes about double as long as it did before, and several seem to be hotfixed today.

Especially 60-80 is pure horror if done questing, you can complete entire zones and overall get 3-4 levels for 5h+.

1-60 is fine, it has a nice pace and the revamped zones are not too long to quest throgh.
XP gains in BC/Wotlk should be buffed by 100%, questing there takes double as long per level as in any other zone.
80-90 again has the right pace (you need to do around 2.5 zones, and collecting pandaria treasures is also a nice boost thanks to flying), and WoD is as fast as it ever was thanks to flying, bonus objectives and treasures.

Scaling is a great thing, and since heirlooms no longer provide the power they did before you can fully take the scenic route by not equipping them. The XP bonus on heirlooms instead should be buffed so people can freely choose if they want to "enjoy" the content or just "rush" through.

No options were taken away, the balance was simply shifted. Before 7.3.5, questing was practically worthless compared to dungeons. While dungeons are harder now, based on what others have said they still seem somewhat viable, and with the new scaling you even get a lot more choice, instead of having to do Sunken Temple 5 times in a row you can choose between 20+ different dungeons.

Guess I should also say 60 hours to get level cap is awfully slow, my record in WOD was 36 hours, and I can do 100 to 110 in 5-6 hours depending on class flat.
Are you my clone? Cause I am 100% like you on this, which seems fairly rare in these discussion.

I hate leveling and questing as well, it's a chore that need to be done. The only other option is a 60 euro boost, which seems too much as well.

I guess this entire system is a trick for Blizzard to give the illusion of more content. Instead of adding end game content, they make current content last longer.

@Aproydtix 60 hours, don't you see how insane that is? That's equal to doing almost two AAA games. 60 hours just to play the game, cause yes, to many people the game START at max level and anything before that is not part of the game to us, it is simply an awful chore. To me, I could be fine with like 10 hours, even though those hours would feel wasted too.

Newer players have been used to an instant gratification system so it seems really tough for them.

    Also...it's the mmochamp forums

I agree Outland/Northrend needs fixing, mostly because of the quest design. As opposed to every other zone in the game, those expansions repeatedly send you back and forth across the zones to do a handful or even a single quest. As it stands now I would like a revamp of those zones, but since we don't have that at the moment I would agree that increasing exp would be a good solution.

Well, I do have "the Insane" title, but on topic:
60 hours is a fair bit, but this is an RPG, and an MMORPG at that. This game is made for and with a lot of content. 60 hours is nothing compared to the total amount of content in the game, it's practically negligible.

You can really see the devolution of WoW and the expectations of its playerbase when seeing this.

*remember fondly when it took 10 days of /played and leveling was an integral part of the game and not a small speed bump to max level*

Gotta single this one out because it's especially stupid.
There is more levels to get to max level, but it's still FIVE TIMES FASTER than it was with 60. The number of levels is pointless when you can gain them much much much faster. Duh.

You have really low expectations for AAA games... I don't buy a lot of games, but Steam says I've logged 600-1200 hours in those. 60 hours is a breeze.

Well, it is a breeze if you enjoy that aspect of the game. The best AND worst thing about WOW is that there is so much you can do. Lots of opportunities and content etc is of course good BUT that often means we are "forced" to do things we don't wanna do. There is lots of optional content I can just skip, such as questing etc, but I can't skip leveling. 60 hours doing something you enjoy is a breeze but 60 hours doing something you loathe is awful.

Yes, to some people, indeed. But when you are able to play 1 hour tops per day and sometimes 3-4 one day to raid, it becomes quite a lot. Leveling an alt is not an option to me anymore, which I sometimes wish I could do.

Going fresh to 110 would take me 6 weeks and also mean no raids for my main those weeks. If I still raided, it would take at least 10 weeks.

Its till way to fast, and the mobs are still way to weak, they should hit double of what they do now.
Leveling anything should take at least a month. I dont care its an alt. Irrelevant. I dont care you could raid in that time, get to the level cap first. The game isnt about getting things done its about playing. You want to get things done buy a fully equipped account and then never turn the game on cause theres no point. Youl have things done and we wont have a toxic player asking blizz to ruin the game for him cause he hasnt got time to play.
