    Alternatives to WoW

After all the constant butchering that the MMORPG part of WoW took since Wotlk came out I feel like this game is becoming something different.
From the multiple difficulties raids, LFG, LFR, Flex, the abismal work done on prfessions, class pruning, wellfare epics, guild shaming, and finally M+.
WoW now feels more and more like some arcade dungeon crawler with a bit of MMO and open world in it.
I tried many MMOs during the draughts of WoW such as ESO, FFXIV, AoC, Aion, RIft, Tera, GW2, Warhammer, SWTOR, Wildstar and some more I cant remember ATM.
If someone has found any MMORPG that have atleast a reasonable resemblance to what WoW use to be pls tell me. (Dont say classic WoW, i cant be bothered redo what i have already experienced just for the sake of nostalgia)

I was gonna suggest Rift, FFXIV, Aion, or GW2... but you apparently don't like any of them, so...

Isn't the title wrong? Wasn't WoW going towards a themepark... theme? It has never fully been one though. Am I misunderstanding what "themepark MMO" means?

You're looking for some kind of open world MMO where everything you do must be done in it's world? EvE comes to mind, though I've not played it and it doesn't resemble WoW very much :P Well, I'm curious what you other fine folks at this site has to add 'cause my mind is blank.
    Well met!

RFFXIV unfortunately is like 80% story 20% content, that's fine but it's not what I'm looking for, Aion is too grindy and random. GW2 is a fine game but I'm looking more for a Sacred trinity type of game (Tank, heal, dps)

I've expressed myself poorly if that's what u think i'm looking for, the themepark concept was originated by the need to add content to maintain the game fresh ( opposed to nowadays where they stretch content in multiple difficulties to increase it's lifespan) aka 1 difficulty only raids and linear progression expansion wise.

EvE is my favourite game but it's a Sandbox MMO not a themepark and i should have specified i want fantasy in it

How is this connected to some kind of General Discussion about World of Warcraft if you want to talk about other MMOs people find interesting?
Is this just a thread to throw shade at a game you don't enjoy anymore?

Nah I'm not, there are been times when i was actually tired/bored and i had no problems aknowledging that. There are some things still awesome about this games but the overall philosophy is not good for me. I can assure you that after 13 years of playing this game on and off i can tell the difference.

Um, ok. In order. I'm guessing you hate content. Or hate the 95%+ of players who weren't able to raid before we had multiple difficulties. I guess you also hate the people who weren't able to raid because "we have our 10 but not enough for 25 so I guess you gotta sit". I guess you also hate raiding period because we were flat out told that raids wouldn't be worth the cost to make without LFR. Not sure what you mean by professions, they're better than last xpax. Not all pruning is bad, I hardly noticed that button I pressed once a week or never pressed cause it wasn't used by the spec I liked. We had welfare epics in BC. Not sure what guild shaming is, did you make it up just now? And if you hate M+ I really don't know what to tell you. I'm guessing you liked the log in for raid then log off thing in WoD.
The most difficult thing to do is accept that there is nothing wrong with things you don't like and accept that people can like things you don't.

WoW is as much MMORPG as it has always been.

    You're just jaded.

It definitely isn't, but I am sure that there's not a single force within our known universe that could make you believe that.
Most people tend to just believe what they want to believe and not consider that things might've changed after 13 years.

Pretty sure you tried all the "good" and popular ones. GL on your search ;P

OR people changed so much after 15 years that they don't like more some things they use to? Or you still get thrilled to play hide and seek?

It definitely is, but I'm sure you're too invested in believing that it isn't because reasons.

Sorry, your feelings changing towards a title doesn't change the genre which it belongs to.

This is so funny. First the actuall % of raiding player to playerbase was higher in BC than now, they were not able to raid THE LAST content not all the raid content, and that's perfectly fine by me, i didnt see all NAXX in vanilla and was perfectly ok. I dont have issue with fixed raid either because they create an environment were you actually care about your raid spot instead of just showing up and go in. Not sure about this LFR thing since I have not trusted blizz words in a long time now. Professions have become less and less impactfull and interesting every Xpac. The fact that you hardly notice pruning has nothing to do with it. In BC we did not had wellfare EPICS untill sunwell patch with BOJ meaning 8/10 of the Xpac were without Wellfare. M+ are a dungeon crawler feature they destabilize the MMO side even more than it's already. I liked to log in prepare myself for raid, farming consumables and doing hc with my guildies in BC, WoD was abysmall and no different from Legion in this specific topic.

I invite you to try some Vanilla/BC private shards and come back and tell me again WoW is still a MMORPG

    Fucking lol.

As if this still isn't an integral part of the game. But, no arguing with someone delusional enough to place WoD in the same basket as Legion.

Have done, and yes, WoW is still an MMORPG, with more ways of progressing your character as of Legion than ever before.

    Get the fuck over it.
