Honestly speaking, I like MT challenge.... BUT, I wish they made it a true CHALLENGE. That would mean to make it ilvl-scale.
I logged my 929 boomie and did challenge in 1st attempt literally, 4-5 shot feral challenge. And all that because I outgeared it. I even didn't have tier bonuses/pantheon trinkets. Just 929ilvl= more hp/heal/dps and made it with an ease. Didn't play these specs since cata/mop. Working for my resto skin now (which is the best imo).

So yeah.... it would be more interesting if it was ilvl-scaled.

They're neither forcing you to do anything nor are the rewards in any term relevant for anyone.
But what If I give a try to a class later and find that I like it? There won't be a way to go back and get the skins then.

One of the few flaws in the Mage Tower is the inability to battle those bosses again (if you enjoyed them). Why aren't one time challenges worth doing? It's like farming shards for Alani, you know what you'll get, you go after it if you want. The only difference being one is skill-based the other is a grind.

I think the mage tower is really cool. Ive tried beating it so many times now but still fail, but its nice! Keeps you on your toes abit and gives you a honest way to show if ur good or not, lol

Just looking at the comments in this thread, it appears that a lot of people enjoyed the mage tower. So I would say it was a success in that regard. I am sure it was not for everyone. I don't like pet battles, but I would never call that feature a flop. I think Blizzard will view the mage tower as a success and proof that players will engage in endgame solo type content.

Also Transmog is a great motivator!

I honestly have no idea why people complain about the Mage Tower. I went from never having done a single raid, to heroic raider and finally Mage tower in 3 days. In three days I learned my class (tanking class so mechanics actually still have to be done) and got the skin. If I can manage that, it can be done by anyone who puts in minimal effort. Especially now that you can out-gear it like crazy.

Just like challenge modes. Deal with it. It's fucking cosmetics.

It was pretty funny seeing all the complaints by people when it first released. In particular, all the lesser geared players.

See how easy it is to make a gross oversimplification?

Fact is that some of the challenges suit the classes differently. It took my Balance druid 15 minutes, yet my Frost Mage with a higher ilvl has spent close to an hour without success. My BM hunter doesn't have any healing legendaries, thus making the encounter a lot harder compared to my Dest. Warlock who did it months prior.
To be fair, I never healed. I tanked, and DPS. Got all of them but the resto druid's. Since I don't know the basics of healing besides gearing, I'm going to hit a wall about as well as a car would, with lots of crashing and burning.

Okay, so according to the armory 36.7% of characters have 1 challenging appearance as of today. Considering only 29.9% of players achieved heroic nighthold I'm sure blizzard doesn't agree with the OP assessment, unless they think that anything beyond normal raid setting is a "FLOP".

P.s. I didn't try to pick the ahead of the curve that supported my argument the best, just about all the Ahead of the Curves are averaged to about 30%.

P.p.s. For those curious, 11.2% got all 3 for their class. To be fair, most people probably only play one spec. I'd be willing to bet, if you wanted an appearance you could have gotten it done by 8.0

Obviously whenever there is a poll on mmo-c, 180% of players have completed every single challenge for every single spec on every single class, but i suspect the truth is quite different.

Why would Blizzard not continue the Mage Tower, with new challenges in the next expansion? It could have been with armor sets this time.
Bruh, if you can't do the mage tower by now the tower isn't the problem

That's literally what determines coolness in society, I could pull up a hundred examples. Same logic as supply and demand. The only way people defend this is "but it's cool to me!" *flowers and unicorns*. Great. But we don't all care about collecting functionally useless items so we can look like the person next to us. I don't have a problem with vanity items, they've just taken over a little too much.

It was a good idea extremely poorly executed.

If they had introduced the chellenges and kept them "current" it would've been good, if they had implemented them and removed or updated with next tier it would've been OK as well. The fact that they created so called "chellenges" and left them over the course of 3 tiers throughout over a year span is just stupid. Also things like Bears being able to avoid one of the core mechanics of their chellenge and affli locks being able to cheese their fight are examples of really poor execution.

I am pretty sure blizzard have failed most if not all of the "chellenges" they've ever implemented, most certainly WoD dungeon chellenges (where people were able to abuse dungeon mechanics and finish them in less than 2 minutes) and Mage Tower Chellenge.

Legion Legendaries were in no way instant gratification.

Yeah it is, every character gets a legendary within hours of hitting 110, for nothing, literally for doing any content, including brain-afk content. Legendaries in legion play right into the wheelhouse of modern blizz, "rewards for everyone" motto. Literally the only requirement is that you waste your life doing WQs every day.

Considering i have all 36 and have also done about 30 out of 36 for a friend a 2nd time on his 910-20 alts and various for others ,i'd say it's time for that one saying "git gud".
    (No , i didn't get anything in return D: )
If you really can't do it , go for 950 ish gear from m+12/15 runs.
