Yeah, rifles aren't generally that heavy. The AK weighs less than 8 pounds empty. A hunting rifle would be around the same, or less. On the other hand, the M134 Minigun weighs 85 pounds, or apparently 41 pounds with a "lightweight mod", according to Wikipedia.
People would love an 85 pound minigun, I'm sure!
It raises the bar for those wanting to grief. If you took more damage the chances are that more people would grief. The way they have it will make it so the people who are truly dedicated to wanting to do it will still do it. But some random passing guy will most likely not want to waste his ammo on a kill that will net him nothing.
It really doesn't tho because there is no "punishment" for the attackers.
Honestly they should in some way copy OSRS PVP system. In OSRS if you attack first you are marked and on death you lose all your gear. Just getting flagged with a bounty doesn't really do anything.
Now I'm not saying copy OSRS system 1:1 but there has to be some negative to a attacker, Losing ammo isn't that negative.

I would be ok with that. Speaking of OSRS it just launched today on mobile. Ahh man I still remember over a decade ago having me and my buddies ask random people around Varrok if they wanted to come pvp with us and we would get them to skull and then kill them(this was back in Rs1 days). Remembering this has made me realize that in games with pvp I have always been a dick. Yeah losing ammo is not that painful, especially since you can make it yourself.

The launcher bug has to be the most Bethesda thing ever and I can't stop giggling.
On one hand this was obvious (I guess), but on the other hand I'm sure there are people out there who were wondering about it, so here's confirmation (as much as people are willing to believe what Bethesda representatives say, that is);
There will be more B.E.T.A. dates and times after the 4th, and before the 14th, to be announced later.

All well and good, but they're trying to make me too sleepy to work on Friday.

So... what's everyones favorite part of the game so far? Mine is when all the scorched phased through the earth and started attacking me from underground where I couldn't fight back.

Got in for BETA around 830, over all I had a good time and didn't come across much in bugs to report. I didn't like the distance fog, seemed that after 40-50 feet things started to get blurry. I was also having a lot of random frame rate issues, tanking noticeably (1080ti, i7-7770K @4.8GHz). Also, is the in game chat set to open mic by default? I started streaming to show some friends the game and as I was talking to them in discord someone in game thought I was chatting them up. Made for a pretty funny encounter.

And I saw, and behold, a pale horse: and he that sat upon him, his name was Death; and Hades followed with him. And there was given unto them authority over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with famine, and with death, and by the wild beasts of the earth.

https://www.polygon.com/2018/10/31/1...d-hack-exploit How to one up the god damn button on the launcher.
We live in an era of "me versus them", an era where something is done that you don't like means you are personally attacked. People whine too much.
Let us play video games and be happy.

I say leave it in. Just have the server also establish where you should be, based on expected movement speed. Everyone else sees you where the server "sees" you, and your client's just glitching out. Or some similar "you thought you could cheat, but nah" kind of deal.
The other, simpler fix is to have the client check the .ini and flag certain settings as "cheating" and fail to launch.
