It's also not even about people with the (R) after their names. There are plenty of modern Republicans I disagreed with, but respected as people;
Mitt Romney
John McCain (his responsibility for bringing Sarah Palin to national light aside)
John Huntsman
George Bush, Sr.
Arnold Schwarzenegger
Colin Powell

Probably plenty more, but I'm not digging through lists.

I used to respect a lot of Republicans. I didn't like Romney's politics, but that was out of intellectual disagreement, not principle. I quite liked Huntsman, though the same applied (liked him more than Romney, in fact). I like John McCain, as a guy, even if his picking Palin was a colossally stupid mistake, in 2008. And this is just taking Republicans who've run for President in the last decade.

Whether I "defend" someone or not has to do with the specifics of what they did. You won't find any posts of mine supporting Anthony Weiner, for instance, even though he was a Democrat.

If there's a difference in how often I defend Democrats rather than Republicans, it's because of a difference in the facts across both spectra.

nope i do not support communism/socialism/progressivism. Nor do i support Fascism/nazism/conservatism. I am an evil libertarian. or a classical liberal if you would rather. And no the libertarian party in the US is not what i support either thought they tend to be the closest to my views...but even that's like saying alpha centauri is close to Sol. while true...it just doesn't quite matter.
