These were separate issues within Activision proper and their studios.
The board likely can, because now we know that Kotick lied to them. Which puts his job in a bit of jeopardy. He's made them a ton of money over the years, but he's currently more and more of a liability and boards aren't big fans of their CEO's lying to them.
Again, separate issues. I doubt most of what happened within Blizzard filtered up to the Activision executive level, it stayed in-house. Just like what happened at Activision, including the recent allegations against Kotick, were purely within Activision and didn't filter down to Blizzard. Except for the bullshit with Jen and her getting paid less, which is so hilariously incompetent it's amusing.
I don't know anyone that was actually saying this, considering we've all largely assumed that the other shoe would drop for Activision sooner rather than later and even the earlier reporting did not present them in a positive light.
