Assassin's creed odyssey 8/10 I really fucking love this game but the microtransactions albeit completely optional and not something I felt remotely compelled spend money on leaves a bit of a sour taste in my mouth just because I don't think microtransactions belong in a 60 euro title.

Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk 8/10 Ever since i finished Demons Gaze II i've longed for another one of these 1st person dungeon crawler and this game did not disappoint. If you're unprepared for the later bosses in this game you will be completely butchered and kicked in the nuts from the sheer difficulty of them.

The reason it doesn't rank even higher is because like the older games of this genre, no matter what you do. RNG can kill you even if you prepare for the fights in every way possible. Having the boss not target your tanks and instead maul your casters will pretty much end in a game over no matter what you do.

So after mostly finishing Assassins Creed: Odyssey, I have the urge to quickly share my 2 cents for anyone who was also in the fence about getting the game.

I guess the best way for me to sum up my time with the game in one word would be "mixed". I came for the ancient greek world and the game delivered on it. Some of the main and side stories were entertaining, even though it took me roughly 14 hours before I reached a point where the story actually started to get interesting in the first place. I did have major issues with the core gameplay loop and the refusal of the plot to allow you to properly side with one of the 2 factions ( yes I've seen the shizophrenic message at the end), which in turn broke my immersion on more than 100 occasions. Even more annoying to me was, that in a game where you play as a fucking spartan, with a narrative that constantly harps on about the glory and importance of spartan shields, you are not allowed to use shields ever, which also cheapens one of the mythical encounters later in the game as well. This would have been forgivable, butwhen everyone around you and your enemies do use shields and you are constantly told about it, then it appears as one of these headscratching descisions that left me constantly baffled. For fucks sake they already had them in the previous game, who signed up on that descison to remove it here of all places?

I played the male character and while some of the dialogue was kinda awkward at times, I definitely bought the character. I think it payed off after the first big twist. I would have liked if we had a bit more influence of the character via the RPG elements though, especially because there seemed to be only 2 modi in many situations, raging murder or fool hero who stands there with both arms stemmed into his sides looking like a wannabe super hero. I was one of the few that liked the present day bits in the first couple of titles, but while they were never that memorable, Miles at least seemed to have earned his place and was relatable because of that. I just can't get behind.. who ever the lady was I was playing as for the 2 or 3 intermissions where they janked you out of the animus. The second major twist was also a bit.. let's say forced.

The basic combat system is solid, even though some enemies became rather annoying as time went on. The mercenary system wants to the Orcs from Shadow of Mordor, but it falls flat of that by a long shot, even though a few interesting bits were in here. Halfway through the game when I realized that I can't outlevel enemies and the levels just serve as artificial gating on top of story gating (the later being fine), I went about "fixing" that myself, which had the pleasant side effect of ridding me for the most part of the boring loot system, which is just there to tick the box for the lootwhore crowd. I couldn't care less about disposable items, I had way more fun hunting legendary items of myth and legend that weren't immediately obsolete because of the stupid number that was slapped on them, just so you are "encouraged" to grind (or buy) some more materials to upgrade them to become usefull again. Speaking about upgrading, the base design here is highly predatory and clearly designed to part fools with more money than time from the former.

The biggest low for me was when I met the orichalcium merchant and realized that either I would be spending weeks grinding out random daily quests with recycled audio to get the shop locked items, while hoping that the ones I'd like were on sale in the first place, or spend 15+ bucks on an armor (all of them only for warrior style, the most wrong playstyle you can adopt in the game) and some other stuff that should have been part of some quests where you explore those legends. That the shop had enough macro transactions after a couple of weeks to cost you the game twice over wasn't helping either.

I bought the base vesion and got my money's worth out of it (90+ hours), but with the way the franchise is headed, especially the obnoxious macro transactions, this will probably be my last assassins creed game for a long while (unless one of the themes really speaks to me). I enjoyed alot about the game, but alot of it pissed me off as well. I'm curious about the works behind the scenes here, because at the rate these are cranked out while there is obviously some effort involved in getting the world right, there is also this feeling that alot of the content is just shallow repetitive point of interest infiltration.

TL;DR: It had it's good sites and alot of bad sides, for me the good ones slighly outweighed the bad ones. I'd give it 6.5/10.

PS: I just needed to write down my thoughts and if the forum would support it I would put the middle part in a collapsable tag .

    AC Origins.

Reskinned same old same old. Even the story hasn't captivated me. I'll see if I can be bothered to keep trying.

    6/10

Shadow of the Tomb Raider - 6/10

Somehow manages to regress in almost everyway compared to previous two games. Generic story, incredibly boring characters and dialogues, unsatisfying combat (guns felt really shit, especially shotgun), uninspired collectathon of million items. Even visually looks like a step back, two last games looked way more impressive at their release. Tombs were decent fun though.

Yet again, this franchise needs a massive jolt up its ass or be shelved. I wonder if the quality went down because it was done by other internal studio rather than Crystal Dynamics who mostly moved on to other stuff. Everything about this game feels like it was done by people whos job it is, rather then people who feel passionate about it.

    Assassins Creed Odyssey - 9/10
Best Assassins Creed game to date. Great gameplay, passable story (The real world part ruined it for me), amazing world. Microtransactions are a bit suspect, but the game is good enough to overlook them, plus they're not needed.

    Red Dead Redemption 2 - 9/10

Amazing story, bloody amazing. I loved it. Gunplay is a bit... off, I always ended up using melee weapons because I was so bad at aiming. Immersive as fuck, some great RPG elements.

    Thronebreaker - 9/10

Solid game with a great story. There were a few moments where I wish I could ask my advisors for more info, but beyond that it's a very solid game and an enjoyable 30 hour adventure.

    So many good games lately.

Red Dead Redemption 2 - 9.5/10 Almost perfect game with some minor hiccups at the end. Arthur Morgan is probably the greatest protagonist I've ever played in a game. Amazing.

Hollow Knight (Switch) - 8.5/10 The game at points is near perfect and then at others is obnoxiously frustrating. I think certain power ups should've been baseline like an i-frame dash. So much content for the price though and absolutely beautiful art and music.

world of Warcraft - BfA rating 4/10
Warlords of dreanor 8/10 because the game was fun to play back then.

i cant really find any fun coming from Bfa currant. bfa and legion changed the game so much that its a different game from what i can tell. wod was done well at least the fun factor was intact.

    Spyro The Dragon - 8/10

Really fun platformer. I never played Spyro back in the day, but I love Insomniac's games and everything from the humor, to the characters, to the music really reminded me of them and gave me so much nostalgia. Great time, the games definitely age well. Pretty simplistic platforming especially when compared to Super Mario Odyssey but I still had a grand time.

    Assassin’s Creed Odyssey - 9/10

Other than the modern wold crap and one certain quest line that ties in with it, it’s a great game. Just wish they would do away with the irritating modern world parts, they aren’t needed at all. The side quests can be rather entertaining, the combat is great as ever and the Greek backdrop is amazingly beautiful.

    Pokemon Let’s Go - 8/10

I love that it’s not just on a hand held device and can be played on the big screen now. The main cons of this game are the forced motion controls, forced use of joycons, the inability to use a pro controller and even lack of support for it and no more wild battles. That said, I didn’t mind the catching mechanism even though it used motion controls, I’d just prefer catching pokemon as it’s traditionally been done. Loved seeing pokemon on the over world and being able to choose whether or not to battle them. Overall I’d say it’s a good step towards next years installment, I hope they keep several elements.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - 9/10

My only gripe about this is the lack of narrative in the World of Light mode. Would have been nice to include some kind of story to go with it. In my opinion there is also an overabundance of spirit fights in WoL mode which makes it quite tedious. Other than that, it’s just like all other SSB games, good fun.
    Main toon: Priest
Alts: Rogue, Druid and Paladin plus many, many more.

Fun combat, swinging through the city is a wet dream come true, great story even if you know the characters and what they'll eventually become.

Total War: Warhammer 2: a 8/10 on release, 8.5/10 now with more content and update to old races, alongside a solid modding scene that makes amazing battle maps.

Skyrim: 7.5/10 baseline, 8 with mods. Probably my favorite Bethesda game after Morrowind. If the melee combat wasn't so dull and non-Conjuration magic didn't need a bevy of mods to be actually usable I'd probably rate it higher. As it is, it's still fun to trek around Skyrim after all these years but I can't stand long gameplay sessions. Also, even with the last patch, a carefully curated mod selection and the ultimate unofficial patch, it's still buggy and crash prone. Plus other annoying stuff like those Vampire assholes spawning at the ass end of Whiterun and slaughtering several NPCs before I can even get there.

Dragon Age: Inquisition. 8.5/10, 9/10 for the Trespasser DLC which I'm playing now and loving. What can I say, I've seen people take a dump on this game and I admit its faults in regards to fetch quest overuse, cliche main story and poor PC controls, but I still like the combat, love the crafting, like the non-fetch side-quest and world design, like sitting in judgement, like the dragon fights, and most of all love the companion selection.

Brawlhalla. 8/10 Super fun. Reminds me of Smash Bros but even more fast paced. Tried Smash Ultimate the other day and spent the whole time thinking I'd rather be playing Brawlhalla.

I find it far slower that previous Smash games. After playing Melee on a Gamecube for years and finally trying Ultimate it felt sluggish as fuck.

Lunar Eternal Blue Complete: LOONG overdue on my backlog this game was just wonderful...voice acting is dated, cutscenes were kinda sluggish for the PS1 era, the language is hilariously dated (dear god I have seen the main cast call people a retard almost as much as I head it in high school...)but..very solid RPG a a huge improvement on Silver Star Story...I would give the next game a chance but its Dragon Song...

You're going to get that...Sakurai like's to try and find that balance between speed and accessibility...I would say he got it with Ultimate..but a lot of the hardcore melee crowd is going to stick with melee like they always had...like there are Street Fighter players who stick with Third Strike or Super 2 Turbo despite a huge scene out there for 5

I initially had no intention of buying it as I thought it was like other Pokemon Spinoffs (non-main games). I bought it instantly when I found out it was a re-imagining of Pokemon Yellow

Yeah, after playing Brawlhalla a ton while waiting for Ultimate, i've basically gone straight back to Brawlhalla just for the faster pacing. That and pretty much every fucking friend I play with refuses to play with no Items on and Smash with Items is a cancerous clusterfuck.
