I mean, we probably already knew this, didn't we?

Federal officials allowed distribution of COVID-19 antibody tests after they knew many were flawed

The Trump admin knowingly allowed these faulty tests to circulate in part to create data supporting reopening the country.

Trump and his party doing the right thing once again!!! Good to see he has no problem going back on their word that they won't impact the hospital system even if they get sick....

Man who led protests against stay-at-home orders tests positive

    Reopen Maryland co-founder tests positive

The co-founder of ReOpen Maryland, who organized rallies to pressure Gov. Larry Hogan to lift the state's stay-at-home order, said he has tested positive for COVID-19.
Tim Walters, a former Republican candidate for the General Assembly, said that he had a dry cough for months but it recently worsened. He said he then began to experience an excruciating headache, a fever and the inability to focus with one of his eyes, which led to vertigo.

Walters, 53, a diabetic who has had mini-strokes, said he went to an emergency room Monday and was diagnosed with the virus.

“Here I am months after not wearing a mask at rallies, churches and so on, and so it’s funny how capricious this thing is,” he said in a Facebook video.

Walters said he doesn't plan to provide health officials with the people he's had close contact with for the contact tracing program.

Walters said he had long suspected he might have the virus but was surprised by the toll it was taking on him this week. “It was nothing like what I thought,” he said. “The challenge with this is all the symptoms for everybody are completely different.”

I'm not in the medical profession. So perhaps my opinion is not shared.

But as a statistician, I believe a flawed test is arguably worse than no test at all. Unreliable results are not results. They're garbage. Especially in this case -- the article says 20% accurate, which is figuratively and damn near literally Russian Roulette there. We knew earlier they were defective, and again, they were rushed, so I think people understand. But continuing to use a test you know is that badly flawed isn't desperation, it's propagation of misinformation.

    (rolls eyes)

He didn't wear protection and he didn't socially distance himself, and he got the virus. That's not capricious. That's being a dumbass.

Edit: Explain to me, why there are not spikes in NY or WA, where protests happened the most? Why are there spikes in Arizona and Texas, that saw less protests, but followed Trump’s bullshit?
Explain to me why the latino community is the most affected? Most people likely protestors got covid and sufferd no ill effects from it.

so there is a report or data that the Latino community, whom were protestors, were most affected? Hell do we even have data on the Latino community relative to all the others?

or are you just making assumptions and guesses?

Easy. The latino community has a higher share of the % of essential workers, and many of them do not have the necessary PPE for the job they're doing.

Also, this virus does not affect everyone equally. Blood Type and vitamin defficency potentially play a big factor on how deadly the virus can be.

It is, because you're attempting to make informed decisions. If the tests don't work, you're making a decision you think is informed, but isn't. If the default position is, "stay closed," and the decision you're trying to make is whether to open or not, any decision to open made on faulty data (or just made irresponsibly) is a catastrophe, as we can clearly see.

    Exactly.

It's the same thing with, say, only looking at Rasmussen polls or FOX News ratings. If you think an intentionally biased survey is indicative of the whole thing, you'll find yourself deluded into thinking you have a Silent Majority while state after state turns against you. I tell my students "a biased study is worse than useless" for nearly exactly the reason you describe, but I throw in "if anyone catches you using incorrect information, you'll at the minimum be discredited and at worst be fired and shunned". I might also mention vaccinations.

The bolded part is just one more example of Trump supporters throwing each other under the bus. In this case, he is denying officials the ability to track down and test his friends for the virus. Waiting until their symptoms gets worse increases their chances of their health deteriorating, and increases their chances of spreading it throughout the Trump supporter community. Which is kind of why Florida and Texas are spiking so much. Trump supporters backstabbing each other.

Uhm... they have the most front line staff. They are the people Trump’s supporters would rather get sick, than go a month without a hair cut. Why would Latino community be most impacted anyway? Did it look like majority of protesters were a specific race?

Most people likely protestors got covid and sufferd no ill effects from it.
Yet, it’s Texas and Arizona setting new records? Testing in NY has gone up, while cases have dropped. Maybe time to check reality, instead of creating one that first Trump.

Its because it would expose hundreds if not thousands of people who fell for the trump lies.

without them him and his followers can say he was just the exception to the cause...the rare case....one in a billion.

No wonder they have to sign a liability waver, they are outright causing shit that would normally result in a lawsuit.

Though at the point where you deliberately cause harm that little waver will be thrown out faster than the last 50 trump lawsuits

I don't know what else you'd call breaking your contract to make a more dangerous situation for your attendees.

Because they work in the types of jobs that can't be done via work from home, involve lots of human contact, and freqently involve high human densities?

This isn't hard to puzzle out you know.

Look who you are talking to. He either knows and is totally being a bad faith poster. I mean who doesn't know the the poorer Latino workers are working in meat packing facilities and the like, I dusted with some of the highest infection rates com ined with some of the poorest worker health and safety measures in place?

Or he's a complete fucking moron. I mean it could be both. But my money is on a well informed bad actor just here to stir shit because his life is slowly spinning down the drain and he has nothing better to do.

Hey guys. I get to do it.

COVID numbers in for Florida and they are OVER 9000!

9598 to be exact. Almost 10000 people sick because a bunch of mouth breathing chuds can’t wear masks or not travel during a pandemic.

Keep in mind this number is cooked as well. The local emergency care here had 40 positives the state didn’t count because they used the fast acting test and the state doesn’t approve of its use.

Is Florida still hiding it's numbers too? Even after all this? Or are they sticking to that sort of statistical manipulation, rather than outright lies?

I'm pretty sure Trump has no shot at reelection, but oh the karma if so many GOP voters get sick and die, or are too sick to go vote and Trump only wins under 100 EC votes.
