[Megathread] Torchlight Lives (Torchlight Frontiers Revealed)

    https://www.playstationtrophies.org/...ng-To-PS4.html

Perfect World Entertainment has today announced that Torchlight Frontiers will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, seeing the dungeon-crawling RPG making a comeback care of Echtra Games, headed up by former Runic Games and Blizzard North co-founder Max Schaefer.

The latest iteration will be a shared-world action-RPG, bringing back many of the features and mechanics the Torchlight series is known for, with Schaefer assembling "an all-star team of developers," according to Perfect World Senior Vice President, Yoon Im. "We continue to be amazed by the sheer level of talent and wealth of experience that they bring to Torchlight Frontiers," says Im. "We’re proud to have Echtra Games as a part of the company.”

Echtra Games CEO Schaefer states that the goal for Torchlight Frontiers is to continue to evolve the series' universe into a shared world, meaning that Torchlight Frontiers "will be a living, breathing universe that will still feel uniquely Torchlight, while we add our own creative spin to the game," he states. "The team is building something truly special, and we can’t wait for fans to play it for the first time at Gamescom and PAX West."

Torchlight Frontiers' shared world promises to be a persistent, dynamically generated one, in which you can team up with friends "and devoted pets" to slice 'n dice your way through ancient ruins, lost civilisations and dark dungeons stuffed with riches, loot and dangerous monsters. No release window has been confirmed for Torchlight Frontiers as yet, but you can check out the announcement trailer below for a teaser.
It being published by Perfect World scares me but if its anything like TL1 or TL2 ill be happy.

    Update: Gameplay video.

Looks good! Seems you can play as an actual gods damned Steam Tank, so tbh I don't care about anything else, I need this game.

I wish there was a switch version, but maybe that will change.

was non to fond of Torchlight 2 but I am sort of happy to see this.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

He'll be my first alt. But I can't resist a sword and board wielding steam tank. That's like... Everything I love in one go. If Laura Bailey can do the voice, even better.

Hehe same here but on the Shadow mage.

Honestly, this game couldn't have popped out in a better moment. It's been years that i called for an ARPG in a persistent world with either fixed but scaling or procedurally generated dungeons, and then Torchlight arrives.

It's basically mmo-ish at this point, but you can play solo/small group which is the best scenarios given current playerbase. Games like WoW still thrive because they have a consolidated core which won't leave until the game closes - new games that aim to live over the years should go towards this structure.

HELL. November comes Darksiders 3 and then 2019 this. Goodbye free time.

Yeah, I think they'r wise aiming for a Q1 2019 release. Spider-Man is out in a couple of weeks, and then RDR2 in October... Those two alone will easily see me through until Q1 2019, if not a little further than that. Then when hype for those starts to wind down... BOOM TL:Frontiers drops and I'm lost for a few more months. Simples.

Yeah I am LOVING the Dusk Mage concept of using light to make shadow spells stronger and shadow powering up light spells

I want an Ezrohir class SO BAD though

I loved Torchlight 1 and I really enjoyed Torchlight 2.

This is a definite win, PWE is worrying but who cares, I want to play this game and I will play this game.

It looks like they borrowed many characters and monsters from other popular games and tweaked them a little.

Kinda like all those wonky asian mobile games do.

Torchlight's actually had a pretty unique selection of races, I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Sure goblins and Ratlins are nothing to write home about, but what other game has CYBORG UNDEAD DWARVES?
