My only complaint is that players who have been subbed for the last 6 months or will be subbed for the next 6 months straight, with a recurring monthly sub fee, will not get the mount.

This was certainly a nice surprise for me. I already pay my sub in 6 month intervals, so I had the mount automatically when I logged in today. Definitely won't complain about a free mount, especially one this good looking

Not a big fan of these sort of "miniaturized" vehicles. They remind me of the sort of scaled-down trucks and cars that rich parents buy for their toddlers to trundle around in. Or the ridiculous mini bicycles that a clown rides in the circus.

I prefer a mount that is at least somewhat properly to scale (which the majority of their mounts are).

But glad to see that heaps of players are excited to be getting one! And there's certainly no issue with the way that Blizz has launched it : a bonus giveaway for buying a lump sum of game-time is smart marketing, and is appropriately rewarding for committed fans of the game who plan to be subscribed over the period anyway.

My sub renews on the 21st of December, so almost exactly halfway through my current 6 months

Yeah just go farm herbs and help destroy the gaming industry by funding these lame, weak attempts at getting subs with a pretty distraction instead of making a good game

They already made a good game to lots of people now if your gonna play that game you can get a free mount.

Technically? Yes. The Celestial Steed is very similar to Invincible. Not just skeleton-wise, but also mesh-wise.

Dude it is a fucking mount. That's it. It isn't unlocking a special character or class that only people that paid can get. It isn't giving you some superweapon of doom ilevel 425 item. It. is. a. mount. That's it.

Can always try exiting game/bnet and loading it back up. If you do get it, it'd show up in the bnet launcher as a gift.

I would only subscribe one month at a time at most in this present shitshow of an expansion.

Imagine making such a gamble that you would potentially (probably) waste that much money on 6 months of awful content/balancing/etc.

If you think the expansion is such crap, you're not subbing anyway, right?

And if someone doesn't agree with your opinion (which you know isn't fact, right?), then this isn't much of a gamble at all.

Recolor: Red Proto Drake -> Blue Proto Drake
Retexture: Red Proto Drake -> Rusted Proto Drake
Remodel: Red Proto Drake -> Fire Hawk
Different skeleton: Uhm.. Red Proto Drake -> anything that doesn't have the same skeleton, like a horse.

Technically, there is something in between a remodel and a wholly different skeleton where Blizzard takes an older skeleton and either polishes it or adds new animations. Take the Proto Drake -> Skyscreamer/Pterrordax or Qiraji Battle Tank -> Grinning Reaver as an example.

There are rumors the subs went down dramatically only 1 month into the xpac. There is valid criticism towards the game's many many aspects atm. We have devs pouring 1 screen long essays and coming out with patch plans. Now the mount and sub discount. When was the last time Blizz did stuff like this? Annual pass was mentioned, which we know for a fact why happened. Other than that? Never?

And frankly I don't care why they did it. Its a free mount for buying 6 months of time for a game I plan to play anyway. Guess I'm not so lacking in the 'life' department that I need to equip a tinfoil hat and make more of it than that.

Anyone saying this mount isn't similar to the one from Blizzcon... is clearly in denial. I'm not saying it's a bad mount or anything, it looks pretty cool even if it's not really my type of mount (too eccentric), but it clearly is not so different from the one we got last year with the Virtual Ticket. That's a fact.

Other than that, I'm curious as to what motivated this 180 days bundle. Is it the subs dropping, a planned content drought, or just a marketing move to ensure subs during this time period?
