Even after blocking somebody, I still get a large white box when they post telling me that they posted. I blocked them for a reason, no need to see that they posted despite not seeing the post itself.

So, um, yeah, please consider actually removing said posts from my view. It can't be technology, as other forums do this without any issue (see serebii.net as an example).

I think it depends on the browser you use, on Chrome I don't see them. On Safari I do see the box you mentioned. Not sure there is much else that can be done.

Just do a bit of reading on the Adblock/Adblock Plus/Ublock Origin filter list and then add those lines to the filter list. Pretty simple once you get the hang of it. Let me know if you need more help.

Obviously you'll have to install one of those adblockers if you don't already have one.

This requires custom forum modification. It's on the list of things to look at, but it's lower priority over other improvements.
