If you think being off by 10% in medicine is nitpicking I can imagine what kind of quality education you had, and I can directly derive how qualified your 'opinion' of all of this is. Why don't we increase the CO2 percentage in the composition of the air you breathe to 10%, and see who's nitpicking then?

Flat part would mean that the number of newly infected is smaller than the number of people being released in the same timeframe. So, no, they haven't.

Their projections are that 12 weeks of lockdown will be 16% of GDP and 5 weeks is half of that, they hope it won't come to this, but still there is intent to raise our debt to GDP ratio from 60% to 70% to fight the virus and prop the economy.
10k machines for a country the size of Israel?

Do you have qualified people to operate those....?

Alright fine, I'll be more precise even though I think you're being pedantic, and it doesn't change the fact that the numbers are low.

There's probably a more effective way for you to contribute than waiting to catch a virus, then.

Not quite there yet, it's just a small glimpse. Nobody is uncorking champagne just yet and we're still going to be locked down even harder soon, if leaks are true.

I am contributing, I'm actually working and keeping the economy from collapsing which would kill many more. What are you doing besides telling me how evil and wrong I am?

I'm not Ministry of Health, I can't answer that. What I do know is that on top of using last year medical students, they intend to train veterinary workers to assist. I imagine even if we don't actually have the human resource to service these, it's still better to have these than run out. All in all equipment might get broken and put out of service, so there's that too.

All in all, it's a government fuckup we did not have more of those to begin with, because given our situation there is a non-0 chance of biological or chemical attack. These questions are already being raised and I'm sure there will be a state committee dealing with this down the road.

Fun fact, its actually possible to hook up multiple people to one ventilator. I mean its risky, they need similar lung sizes and oxygenation/pressure requirements, and it'll be crowded since they'll prettymuch all need to be the same distance from the ventilator, and you'll need to basically babysit the machine making changes on the fly. But if it comes down to life and death, and the surge is overwhelming, hospitals can make the call to start desperate measures. Disconnecting people from ventilators when they need them to live is not really a thing btw (in this country). Bipap machines could also work potentially, but those would come with other issues.

The overwhelming majority of scientific and health experts disagree with you.

As an absolute? Yes, they are. In terms of growth? They're horrifying. I think you're missing the big picture. Look at all those shiny 'flatten the curve' graphs and projections. If they were a mall layout, the arrow indicating "You are here!" is somewhere between zero and the first 10 percent of the 'time' part of that graph. There is a lot more of this shit to come.

Now picture, for a minute, the numbers in the US keep rising at the same pace as they have for the past 7 days.

How many infected are we looking at by Friday next week?

The USA is once again the best. We now officially have the most confirmed Covid-19 cases. The rest of the world can eat our dust.

    U S A, U S A!!

Well to be fair, you do have large population and I imagine you are a bit more frank about your numbers compared to some other, less savory states.

Working my ass of in my hospital in 10 hour shifts, treating patients suffering from this 'nothing', when I'm not performing surgery. And I'm not telling you that you're evil, just ignorant and wrong, and both of that is easily proven by a tremendous amount of quantifiable data, as opposed to the stance of your governor, whomever the dimwit is that the people in your corner of the US saw fit to elect as their leader while it is apparent that he has received less education than the chair he sat on in whatever school he visited. What state are you from? I'd like to google whomever that moron is.

This could also mean that china had much more asymptomatic cases. I ve read somewhere that the true number of cases is 10x the reported one and the vast majority of people dont develop symptoms.
In fact i'm desperately counting on this and on the arrival of serological tests.

Around 600,000 in 1 week. 4.6 million in 2 weeks.

Of course this is just the reported cases and since it takes a week for symptoms to appear its already going to be at the 600,000 case mark, so in a week we would have 4.6 million infected at a minimum.
