Either way, it's just the strange double standard. Either you're fine with in game stores, or you're not. People crusading against them shouldn't be turning blind eyes because of "well, the other part of the game though..."
That's why I'm against ingame stores no matter the game with FF14 being even worse (minus WoW Token), at least when these games charge you for the game, for every expansion and monthly subs on top instead of relying on these stores to finance the game. But more often then not games are designed around ingame shops now because they know that they can possible make more money with "f2p", so even there I question the integrity of the people behind these games.
It wasn't necessary 15 or 20 years ago nor is it now, but pure greed instead. People making excuses for these companies are shills. No wonder that everything goes to shit (look at all the scalping going on lately) when greed is excepted by the general public. On a side note, the should rename "Collector's Edition" into "Scalper's Edition"...
People that have been playing games and MMORPGs for decades will know how the industry went downhill in this regard. Oh how big the outcry about Oblivion's horse armour was but nowadays kids and people with a memory like a sieve are conditioned into accepting and even defending this shit.

whoever buying this and supporting this is beyond stupid, cause he/she/it literally helps killing wow, by telling and teaching blizz „yeah, no need to do anything good in wow, cause we pay you anyway.“…

ppl supporting blizz that way, in the actual situation, can not be helped. or they wanna see wow ending or dont wanna happy employees at blizz. idk. in short: if you buy this, you are just crazy.

These things have existed since Vanilla. You are 15 years late to your argument and the game has been dying for all 15 of those years if what you say is true. You've also been a member of this forum for 11 years which means you have been a fan of the game for 4 years after they introduced monetization of in-game rewards. The TCG launched in 2006 which would have made "Vanilla" exempt if TBC was not delayed. And if you don't count the CE pets as "monetized in-game rewards".

I think FFXIV is chill as fuck with this kind of stuff.

Then again I'm sure the official WoW forums are chill as fuck too, its the fansite forums that this kind of stuff seems to happen on

Its funny because its actually true, these are indeed the worst tier sets (class sets) they ever made. Its impressive people still pay for this really. They are mocking players right now, removing content because they want to please twitter weirdos while the same time filling a subscription game with microtransactions.

By all means, show me where on TCG offer transmog tier sets for sale.

They offered mounts, toys, and pets. Things you can live without

Also, I’d like to call out the obvious that WoW players had tier sets at their peak cosmetically when tcg existed outside of WoW. No one was paying for that t6 on anything but a black market.

Sorry but this is a new low, and it didn’t have to be if they had just given tier sets that much care and effort.

Even when tcg was big, the best mounts and items came from IN GAME. That’s also another difference between good WoW and modern WoW

You can't live without transmog? Lol. This just shows how arbitrary rules are applied so people can hate X even though it is the same as Y. This isn't a new low for WoW. It is the same thing they have been doing for years and isn't even the first transmog set for money.

The cosmetic gear that looks better than ALL new tier sets. With additional cool FXes. And they also want you to pay for subscription.

Don't lie. Not many gear sets were in the store and you know pretty well they all were gimmicks and looked ugly. This one easily surpasses the visuals of the new tier sets. This NEVER happened in the game.

They want us to pay the SAME subscription as they charged 17 years ago. In spite of inflation. And in spite of there being less than half the active subscribers there were 10 years ago. And in spite of the fact that their dev team has grown steadily over the last 10 years.

The shop is what keeps this game funded these days. If you remove it there will not only not be this cool xmog set, but a lot of other stuff you're currently enjoying for your meagre subscription would disappear too.

As far as I am concerned if a segment of the playerbase is basically funding half the development costs, I am perfectly fine with them enjoying something arbitrary that the rest of us freeloaders can't. It's certainly a much better scenario than increased subscriptions or p2w.

The only thing that it has that is cool is the star effect. The actual model of the armor isn't anything special and there are far better looking sets in-game currently. It doesn't matter how many transmog options have been offered in the store before. It just matters that they have sold transmog before.

You and others keep creating arbitrary rules for why it is bad now just so you can use whatever complaint you want.

If you're going to take a moral stance against the store then you should have a moral opposition to a subscription fee.

There are plenty of FF14 players who bash WoWs cash shop but defend FF14s due to it being there from the start. It's just blatant WoW bashing at this point.

As for the looks, it's all subjective. I only think one shop mount looked cool and bought it. The rest stink IMO. Pets I don't care about. The transmogs are OK but I think ingame gear looks better.

It's only a moral stance because it's convenient to comain about or do without.

l wonder if all these people complaining about the eshop would just go out of business if their revenues weren't paying the bills or hitting their projected margins their parent company was asking for? Or would they try to do some other things to help fund their business?

Seems to me they would not have successful businesses.

Nah, of course they'd have successful businesses. Because they'd apply a double standard. I honestly do not believe that anyone is that incompetent that they cannot understand the basic logic here. It's that they don't want to. At this point they are just bashing WoW for the sake of bashing WoW. There is clearly no logic or reason to it.

Everybody knew they made the UI tab exactly for that. So we are more disappointed rather than trying to defend anything. I personally wouldn’t like for WoW to move to f2p because that basically means the game instantly becomes casino with intricate graphics. And this is not the type of games I would like to play. In fact, most governments on the planet banned casinos one way or the other. They will come after f2p I hope.

The type of capitalism where the government pays your bills, and where different transnational giant companies use child labor and couldn’t care less about monopoly regulation. Or where people can’t afford to educate themselves or buy a roof or get medical aid because it is too expensive? That one? I mean do you even know what capitalism is and how many different systems are covered by this broad term. Funny one.

The point is also completely went over your head if you think people are against cash shop just because they can’t afford new dress.

I doubt I'm going to get through to somebody who deliberately misinterpreted my post to make a weird statement about capitalism and thinks that governments are responsible for regulating F2P games but... the cash shop was an inevitability the minute the game became successful with a subscription model. If you're going to be against one part of the model, you should be against the whole thing and not just the parts you think are too much. But that's the rub -- Blizzard obviously isn't getting rid of the cash shop just as obviously as they aren't getting rid of the subscription. Complaining about the store is just pointless white noise, yelling at clouds about something that we are individually completely powerless to stop.

With all due respect I disagree. The WoW was the only game on the market which could sustain subscription model in a world where everyone adopted Chinese f2p model and milked their playerbases selling power. I don't think the decision to add f2p elements to the game was the decision of Blizzard itself. When you have a subscription based game you have to increase subscription numbers to get money, which means you have to continue to deliver great product and grow your market advertising it. The quality is what you have to consistently maintain (and Blizzard still does despite all the fuss going on around them).

In f2p model things work a little different. It is yielding a lot of money even to subpar products just because you have less than 1% of whales willing to put millions in the game (mostly Arabic Sheikhs, this is insight). You have to grow your playerbase but only because these Sheikhs need someone to pwn in the game, they need meat for whales. And you get these people in the game by lebeling it "free to play". Sadly, most people are not clever enough to understand that there is no free stuff in capitalistic society.

Yeah dude, I have no idea what you're on about but the decision to add the store wasn't that complicated. Blizzard realized they could make a metric fuck ton of money with the subscription model so the natural evolution of that model is "hey, why not more?"
