Account Locked for taking MY stuff from gbank.

So I recently left the guild I had been Co-GM of for over a year now. I had recently deposited about 20k the week before, not to mention MANY deposits over the year, and the Maldos Sword Cane from a Trash run I did on an alt. This guild had now missed 2 weeks of raiding, and the GM had been on and off for the last few months and I was fed up with the overall attendance.

I had my own guild formed, and a majority of the raiding core of my old guild followed to my new guild. Before I went to my new guild, I took the sword I had deposited, and just grabbed a measly 10k (I would estimate I'd contributed about 50k over the year). The bank had 100k in it, and was now dead, but the Butt-hurt GM decided to report me, and I now have a 3 hour ban on the night I am supposed to raid late night with my other guild who is into heroic progression.

Was I in the wrong? Because last I heard taking things that are yours isn't a crime..

By blizzard's standards, -everything- in the guild bank is the guild master's. If you are not the guild master, it's not yours. Doesn't matter if you're 1 rank below the guild master. Granted, the GM was probably an asshole reporting you like that for taking the stuff you so recently put in, but technically once you put that stuff in the guild bank, it transferred ownership to the GM. Sorry for your loss.

If it's any consolation, I would've taken back the things I recently put in too.

I am surprised you got a suspension for this.

Send a message to Blizz and argue your case.

By that same logic it is the guild master who sets the allowances to the guild bank. If the OP was allowed to take that much then it is the GM's fault.

The moment you deposited those things into your guild bank they became guild property. While I can understand where you're coming from, the best thing you could have done is left said items in gold in the bank and create a ticket yourself explaining the situation to a GM.

In the grand scheme of things, I don't think this 3 hour ban will matter much. You've seemed to have taken the core raiding group from the current GM which leaves him with a tedious task of recruiting new members and three hours from now you'll most likely still have the gold and the sword.

If you log back on and find these items missing from your account I might suggest sending in a ticket, but to be honest, bringing back what I said earlier, once you deposit something into the bank it becomes GUILD property, not GM property.

    They're not yours.

You might have contributed to the aquirement of the money and the resources, but that doesn't make it yours, it makes it the property of the entire guild, shared out as the Guild Master and his/her officers deem fit.
What you effectively did was jump ship and grab whatever you could get without any real justification. If you felt that strongly about your money, you shouldn't have deposited the weapon and the gold in the first place. As you said, the guild had problems at that point, so you chose to deposite them knowing that in the first place.

TL;DR: Yes, you're wrong and you're not very smart if you think "guild content = my content" even if you contributed.

So you think you should get retroactively refund all the money you deposited in the gbank?

TBH you deserve a longer ban, you pretty much stole that money from the old guild.

Well if he had access to the gold (he could withdraw it) that should make it equally his as well. Open your own ticket and talk to a GM about it.
Kind of why vigilantism isn't a policy to be proud of. It's rather like trying to solve a rat problem by beating them to death with a live cobra.

Except the guild leader gave the individual the ability to withdraw it. On the surface as the story appears, he hasn't "ninja'd" the guild bank. He was given access to the guild bank to make both desposits and withdrawls. I've also seen GMs use this fact to dispell more blatant ninja'ing. The GM would have to had used the GM panel to give the co-GM explicit permission to withdraw that amount of gold.

However, something doesn't seem right with the story. A 3 hour ban for taking back something you deposited a week earlier, that the GM gave you explicit permission to take via his GM controls. If they considered you to have taken items without permission, their first route would be to return the items, not ban you. "About 50k over the year" and "20k last week" doesn't add up either. While possible, it doesn't make much sense - why would you make your largest ever deposit, accounting for 40% of your total contribution, while you were busy forming your own guild and being generally sick of the guild's lack of progression, etc?

Not saying it can't be true, just that it does not make a lot of sense as presented. There's usually more to most stories.

For all intents and purposes, this is actually true... From the moment you put something in the guild bank it ceases to be yours (its not on your bank) and belongs to the guild (its in their bank now)

you sent in a ticket to blizz arguing your case eh?

dont go bitchin about it on realm forums either. that just makes it worse.

    1. Put private items in publicish guild bank
    2. Demand those items back
    3. Laugh when guild reminds you you gave them to the guild
    4. QQ on forums when you get reported for stealing from the guild
    5. Realize the guild bank is NOT your personal bank, therefore putting into it is a communal thing

Actually it is the Guildmasters to dispose of how he see's fit, although I do agree with you it should belong to the guild

Except that the GM gave the co-GM permission to withdraw that money. Don't jump to conclusions without examining the facts.

It was in an Officer tab that only we could see, and it was said to the guild that if anyone wanted it to use for MS raiding, than they can buy for cheap. No one asked for it for as long as it was in the bank.

    Still not your personal bank.
