    Peeing under the shower

No this is not a joke. This is an idea that a dutch politician came up with.

On a daily basis, you flush 36l of clean drinking water, when you shower, you use +/- 40l.
By combining those 2 you can save a lot of drinking water, needless to say this has a lot of ecological and economical benefits.
Also the argument its dirty is not true, because urine is sterile.

My question is, do you already pee while showering and would you consider putting this in practice considering the benefits?

I personal never saw anything wrong with this, I've been doing it as long as I can remember (when you suddenly have to pee in the shower, you won't go out just to pee would you?)

It's sterile inside the body yes, it gets contaminated quite fast when it leaves the body though.

In the sink? Like the same sink that you brush your teeth and possibly shave at?

I pee in the shower every morning.

The thought of peeing in the shower makes me uncomfortable. Ewww.

I pee in the shower if I feel the urge. But most of the time I have already peed in the toilet.

Pretty much this. I don't want to be standing in my urine.

But you don't have to pee on yourself, it goes down the drain, and you're showering. You're cleaning yourself anyway and pee is not dirty at that point. The water from the shower takes it down the drain.

I rarely pee in the shower. On the occasions I do, I always aim for the drain.
'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers clogged with rotting red
And there they lay I damn me eyes
    All lookouts clapped on Paradise
All souls bound just contrarywise, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

I never said it was rational. I just don't want it touching me in the least.

This when I´m at my mom´s place. I´m used to just pee in the toilet. However, as a student living in a studenthouse, there´s no toilet in the bathroom and I pee in the shower. Why should I walk downstairs to take a piss, get upstairs again and then shower when pissing in the shower saves me walking the stairs twice and water=

Peeing in the shower feels 100x better than peeing in the toilet.

The world needs to address the current usage of water, which is bleeding fossil aquifiers dry and will ultimately lead to famine on a scale never seen before.

'It takes 1,600 cubic meters of water on average to produce one metric tonne of wheat.'

Have a gander at this: Peak Water.

'Ultimately, peak water is not about running out of fresh water, but about reaching physical, economic, and environmental limits on meeting human demands for water and the subsequent decline of water availability and use.'

I pee in the shower. After 25 years, it's automatic, you go into the shower, feel all that water running and then "ok little guy, go ahead"

My favorite thing about peeing in the shower in the morning is I don't have to aim.

Hell I don't even have to open my eyes.

When I showever, if I feel the urge to take a piss, I do it.

You just aim for the drain and not to piss on your legs, it's not hard.

As a male, and having a full bath it's very easy to stand back and pee directly on the drain never getting a drop on me. I imagine it's quite a bit more difficult for a woman to do the same without perching on the ledges lol.

I don't like the idea of pee getting on me even if I am showering. The water all goes to the same place in the end anyways, a recycling center where it cleans out 99.9% of all bacterium and whatever and sterilizes it through UV radiation and other nonsense that makes it like new. The issue of "Wastes water" is pretty moot when it's not being thrown into the ground it's being pumped and taken to a cleaning area and then re-used.

Otherwise I'm fairly certain we would be out of fresh water at this point.

    Aveline's amazing work!

Forgetting for a second all the pee talk, this premise doesn't really hold up to scrutiny. You make two statements about water use; "Daily usage, Toilet = 36L and shower = 40L." The problem is when you compare the two. The difference is that you probably only shower once per day, whereas you might flush the toilet 6 times per day (Given US legislation for 6L toilets in all new construction).

So peeing in the shower really would only save 6L per day (your morning pee), and potentially wouldn't really "save" you anything if your morning pee coincides with a morning deuce.

Not even sure why he would want to broach the topic.
