How does your guild handle Cauldrons/Flasks?

This has recently caused a bit of a stir in my guild. Normally everyone would bring their own flasks (we tend to raid with 20-30 players), but with the new cauldrons we've taken to each handing 3 flasks to the main alchemist before each raid so he can create a Cauldron for everyone. The reasoning being that they cost 20 flasks to make but give 30 out. So in the long run it ends up being cheaper overall. The excess flasks from the first two raid days are used to make "free cauldrons" for the 3rd day.

The problem however is that nearly a 3rd of the raiding team are alchemists themselves and have the Mixology bonus, giving them 2 hour durations on their flasks. So even though the alchemists only use 2 flasks per raid, they still have to pay for 3. And the remaining charges in the cauldron are just going to waste. The view of the alchemists is that they are being told to throw their money away. The officers' stance on this is essentually "tough shit", and it's creating a bit of drama.

So how does your guild handle the cauldrons?

We have a group that is at the moment a lot smaller. Therefore we can easly double tap the cauldron. You know that, even tho the Flask from the cauldron is unique that you can use it and take another one?

So what you can do is: use 1 Cauldron for 15 Raiders to get them 2 hours worth of flasks and single flask all the alchemists. Calculate the bass requirements of Flowers to create that amount of flasks + cauldrons and organize that the group farms it.

The way we handle cauldron is not using it.

suck it up and take one for the team.
how tough can life be when you're bitching to your RL about the inequalities you face "as an alchemist with the mixology specialization and blah blah blah"

We dont use em, aren't 20+ in mythic anyway.
Though bit weird to make drama about same gold amount that you will passivly gain from orderhall.

Use 2 cauldrons per raid night. Gives us a total of 60 1 hour flask for our 3 hour raid.

Also you can get a second flask if you use the first you get from the cauldron so you shouldn't waste any.

And rank 3 cauldron can proc making it such a big saving in flask.

We don't use it and its fine.
If we can't pay for our own pots and flasks we help each other out. we are an guild after all.

We tried cauldrons but found having everyone farm their own flasks was easier.

People bring their own flasks(or provide mats to the alchemists to make them)

    There's a cauldron?!

We all just spent our all free time farming herbs for flasks/potions. Then Xavius basically keeled over and handed some bad loot.

We all send 5 flasks to our alchemist so we have 2 cauldrons for the week and we end up saving 1 flask.

2 Cauldrons covers each raid night and we just have various people farm through the week for the mats. Usually end up with a surplus.

Do Alchemists also get double buff duration from cauldrons?
If so, it IS very wasteful to drop a cauldron every hour when one third of the team still has a buff.

suppose the raid is 7 Alchemists and 13 non-Alchemists. In a two hour period...
If you drop two cauldrons to cover the raid, you spent 40 flasks.
If you drop one cauldrons and ask the non-Alchemists to drink their own flask to cover the gap, you end up spending 33 flasks.

So I think it's probably better to cauldron every 2 hours and ask the non-alchs to flask themselves in between.

We have about half alchemists. The gbank just pays for cauldrons, and when one is dropped, everyone tries to take 2 to use up all its charges. The alchemists trade around the extra flask, so most people have either a 2hr flask as alchemist or get 2 spirit flasks. We raid 3 hours, so people generally just use a personal flask for the last hour.

Here is how my guild does it in mythic. Everyone who can, put mats in Gbank so our officer who has rank 3 of all alchemy recipes can make cauldrons for us. In raid, when cauldron goes down, everyone takes one and then group 1 and 2 take an extra. Hour later and another goes down, everyone takes one and group 3 and 4 take an extra. Hour later a new cauldron goes down and everyone that needs one takes one. This method works quite well for us for a 4 hour raid night.

for Mythic, drop 2, everyone gets 1, then first two groups get a second.
Drop a second at the end of that hour, second two groups get a second.
Then for the third hour, everyone already has one.

    Saves a TON of mats.
