My day to day is much worse than 4 years ago. I'm an immigration lawyer specializing in asylum and refugee claims. And this Administration, while being good for my personal business, has stressed me to no end trying to fend off insane behavior by CBP and ICE on behalf of my clients. And while I focused more on the ME and Asia prior to Trump, I've now been to Texas way more than I've ever wanted to be, in the past 3 years.

Moreover, for my clients, many of whom are here LEGALLY, their day to day has been a fucking nightmare, not only in dealing with the government, but with dealing with the average American, who has been empowered to be complete fucking assholes to them.

    More info from Bolton's book.

Specifically, Trump personally and directly told Bolton, to make Ukraine work with Giuliani. Who holds no official government role.

Oh, and Bolton says he didn't do it.

I'm just laughing at the Trumpster who pulled the standard deflection of "what freedoms off yours has Trump taken away," and he ends up pulling it on an immigration lawyer of all people.

That's the fundamental problem with Trump supporters (and all authoritarians, for that matter). They assume that if their life isn't heavily impacted by their guy's actions, then everything is fine. That's not how freedom works.

Exactly. There is a super pac started by kelly anne conways husband, and they have been running a super harsh tv ad up in maine about susan collin's cause she voted to table the witnesses at the start of the trial.

I can't even comment on most of our immigration threads here, because either A) I have clients involved, or B) it makes me so irate that I can't think straight.

Case in point: The CBP memo that just came out that said to target people of certain national origins. This would have been a scandal that would have led to the resignation of past AGs, prior to this Administration. I can't comment on it, but I so, so want to.

Cool anecdotal evidence. And I'm a brown minority among many who have had no day-to-day issues since this admin took over.

    See how that works?

LOL at the notion that this isn't a free country.

No matter how many times you yell "Hitler" at the sky, it won't make your flawed analogy come true.

We knew republicans were going to rig the trial and betray democracy, but it's no less disgusting because of that.

On the plus side, it's costing not only Trump, but most other republican candidates millions of votes on top of the millions they already lost from doing such a shitty job the past three years.

And yet, the other poster showed how freedoms are being taken away. The same goes for bump stocks, LGBT people. I get that you wanted to push this lie about Trump, but people stopped buying it a very long time ago.

Maybe people just don't like voting for racists and dudes who like to peep in on underage girls. Maybe people have corrupt misogynists who seem to like to sexually assault women. Maybe people don't want spending increases, tax increases, a skyrocketing deficit, corporatism, nepotism, national socialists, and white nationalists being in charge of this country.

    Just a thought.

While my story is anecdotal, what is happening to asylum and refugees in this country is incontrovertible fact. Hell, a few posts later I mentioned the CBP memo which came out a few days ago saying U.S. citizens (of certain national origins) can be detained (imo illegally) for questioning, like we ran some sort of fucking Gestapo.

As for whether you believe my story or not, that's up to you. I'm also a brown minority (and an immigrant), and have talked about it pretty extensively over the years on this forum, and I've noticed a difference. But I live in the Rust Belt that voted for Trump.

I know you won't comment on it, but as for the memo... it looks like we are going all the way back to 1940's United States, and 1938 Germany... all in one fell swoop. You gotta love racist profiling by our government.

    How very interesting.

They could literally be writing orders to have millions of people murdered, and his supporters wouldn't care.

I think it should be clear by now, that every time something like this pops up, a few Republican politicians will say they are concerned, then they will ignore it twelve seconds later. His supporters will think whatever it was was a great idea.

We have yet to find anything, and I mean anything, that will stop people from supporting Trump. It's not racism. It's not sexual assault. It's not locking kids in cages, to torture their families. It's not the sexual assault or deaths of immigrant children. Let's make something very, very clear.

    There. Is. No. line.

I’m glad it’s worked out for you. It hasn’t for a LOT of people.
'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head

I wonder as a very brown Son of Middle eastern parents ( Syrian and Lebanese ) what my next trip into the gates at LAX would be like? I am flying back to vote this coming election as a goodbye fuck you sort of thing. Either why if you have the means and ability to leave do so.

Oh I guess I could throw this in: Trump patted himself on the back while touting NAFTA 1.0.0.2 to Michigan, saying it was probably the biggest reason he ran for office.

He failed, of course, to note that the steel tariffs and other things he did, causing manufacturing jobs to rise an anemic 0.6% last year and jobs in auto parts specifically to drop 5.3%. Trump claims NAFTA 1.0.0.2 will create 76,000 jobs and $34 billion, but then, he promised his tax cuts would bring back $4 trillion and that's about as far from what happened as you can get.

Because of people like you... who will support him, no matter what. You are proving my point for me, thanks.

At least you are done lying, and putting up the charade that you are not a Trump supporter. Are you upset that you got caught?

Yet, Not Hillary, forced you guys to make the mistake of Trump.

Underestimate the dislike of Trump at your own peril.

It would be, if Republicans cared about laws or rules.

But they don't, so this won't matter.

    And very good point.

Very interesting article about the GOP subverting and essentially ignoring democracy and the Constitution.

Team Deplorable is writing the questions for the Senators? The defense team is writing the questions for the jury to ask the prosecutors?

    What. The. Holy. Fuck.
