All hands, brace for impact. The CDC warns it's about to get a lot uglier, and soon.

Dr. Anne Schuchat, the principal deputy director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said her agency is seeing early signs that the number of cases in other cities are already beginning to spike. While New York City is home to almost half the cases in the country at the moment, other cities are seeing their case counts rising at alarming rates.

“We're looking at our flu syndromic data, our respiratory illness that presents at emergency departments. Across the country there's a number of areas that are escalating. The numbers in New York are so large that they show up, but we're looking at increases over time and we're really seeing some in a number of places. It would be surprising to me based on what I've seen about how this virus spreads if it were not going to increase in many other parts of the country,” Schuchat said.

There was a delay in response and as Europe has taught us all, one country or in your case one state going in part lock down and i am reading that it is not very effective or strictly followed in NYC by its population, one country/state going in lockdown does not work that effectively unless borders are closed, what is not going to happen in the US.

Think one week from now the administration is going to have a hard time explaining their actions and that small support bump is going to be nowhere to be seen any more. Unlike the previous crises, this one isn't very complicated in judging when things are bad or good. This one isn't a court case that is going to be dragged out for months.

The bad part is not city 1-2---5...
its #6-100+ when there are no more national supplies and backups.

They are going to wish they were the first few cities.

Given the two week window without much in the way of symptoms and totally asymptomatic carriers all of the lock down measures were too slow. They will help eventually but this thing is out of the box and across the country and we will see that for real in the next couple of weeks.

It is and the worst part is, The White House still is not taking this serious. The message that comes from there is why people feel empowered to keep going forward as they always have.

If they even believe the severity of this situation and i believe some think this is still a hoax. You have people who believe this only effects elderly or weaker people.
You have people who believe a cure will be coming soon. You have people who believe this is over by Easter.
This misinformation spree is going to kill people. When the first young adult dies of this they know or lives on their street, when they go to the hospital to see there is no room and people are laying on the ground everywhere, when their parents can't get care any more, when their cancer riddled family member or friend can't go to the hospital any more as there is no capacity. Then the bomb will really drop, i might sound dramatic but i am merely describing what has happened in some places in Europe and lockdown is in full effect and enforced by the law.

Reason i asked if a President can be held accountable for neglect before.

So without a federal order to close things down (or maybe on state level although they can't financially support it for long) things will keep running till it grinds to a halt.

Lots of places still aren't taking it seriously. Florida still refuses to implement a full proper lock down and its republican governor is instead trying to scapegoat new york for its coronavirus cases. The governor of Mississippi, another republican, is also refusing to implement a lockdown and has instead decreed most businesses as essential and so should stay open no matter what (apparently department stores uber and gun stores are all an essential necessity).

For those into American Exceptionalism we now have the most cases of COVID. We're #1! We're #1.

And yet we're supposed to believe that Trump is doing just a bang up job of keeping the virus under control.

Trump on deploying troops to Canadian border: "We have a lot of things coming in from Canada. We have trades -- illegal trades -- we don't like."
    Friendship ended with Canada!

Yep. For those who do not think much ahead. If they are offered their old job back before then, the smart ones will take the job.

Meanwhile, for those interested, Trump's overall approval rating just hit a all time high since he has been President. The average of 10 polling sources from RealClearPolitics now have him at a average of 47.1%.

You realize the remarkable thing is how absolutely dismal his approval rating bump has been? Not that it exists?

Go look at the poll boosts Bush got for his handling of 9/11.

If Trump had been even slightly competent or capable instead of being the incompetent grifter that he is, he'd be seeing a 20 point poll boost not a 3 point one.

And this is the upside. What do you think is going to happen to that bump, when the tens of thousands of deaths that he is directly responsible for causing start coming? Do you think that 3% boost is going to save him then?

Oh, so are we back to you caring about poll numbers?

    https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com...s/?cid=rrpromo

45.3%, not 47.1%, but you don't care about that, only whichever supports your beliefs. This is the first time he's cracked 45%, which is laughably bad.
