Great, more achievements I won't have the patience to get
Looks pretty awesome though.

The team that was in charge of this was the UI team. So you didnt lose any precious raid because of this system.
This minigame in no way changes how any of you play WoW. Unless you want it to. Period.
People who call it childish have a very narrow and close minded view. You already play a cartoony game full of silly humor. Those who even play the actual pokemon games are not nessearily any more childish than anyone playing this game.
In my time playing Pokemon at its end game competitive level and interacting with that community Ive seen far more mature behavior on a regular basis than I -ever- see in a typical pug, trade chat or any other populated area.
tl/dr: People throwing out random claims of childishness are deluding themselves. A game does not define the gamer.
I have to timeline this.
Proposal in the idea stages of beta: "You know what we could do? POKEMON! That's fun, right?!?!" "YEAH! Pets just sit there now. Let's make them fun."
Developers reading it: "Are you kidding me?! I have to program pet battles?"
Proposers: "It will be fun."
Developer: "I don't see how."
Announcement: "Pet battles!!!! That's fun, right?"
Kids: "Yeah!!!!"
Others: "WTF?!?"
Kids in beta: "This is awesome!"
Beta participants who aren't kids: "WTF?!?"
Developers: "I have to debug the pet battles? Kill me, please."
Me: "WTF?!??
As others have said....this is a gigantic, monumental, colossal waste of development time.
Are you really expecting people will run around collecting, training and battling pets and consider that fun?
PETS?!?
your.. saying this is a waste of resources.
But a dance studio in NO WAY is a waste of resources?
Seriously?
SERIOUSLY?
does it matter that much? id rather have content to play w/ or time wasting then a silly dance studio which would be pointless quick, and models you barely look at close up
Man, some of your guys need to take a long look in the mirror. If you're so insecure that you feel the need to make sure everyone knows that you think something is immature...well you have other problems. I assure you know one is interested in your underdeveloped sense of self.
Look, I'm 27 years old and have been playing this game on and off since '04. It's okay if you don't want to take part, but backing it up with sweeping generalizations about "12 year olds" makes you look less mature than said 12 year old.
Pet battles look awesome. For those of you complaining, when you eventually break down and start participating, I hope you look back on this day and look deep into your soul to learn more about how much of a spoiled, pretentious dick you actually are.
ITT: Lots of teenagers who are afraid people will call them childish due to this feature. And then a mix of teenagers and adults who are comfortable admitting that they're playing a video game, and are just interested in whether it's fun or not.
It's the "Kung Fu Panda" issue all over again.
Oh man, the irony that this showed up right under my post.
People alread yrun around collecting the pets. Why wouldnt they utilize another method to show them off to each other? I'd be willing to bet real money that more people actively participate in the pet collecting community than in the arena community.
Ok, hold on one second.
Let me ask everyone on both sides of this argument one question: Would you rather have pet battles in game or a new primary profession?
jees somone call the waaambulance. look guy take it easy. WoW is moving along with the gaming meta of being more user friendly and less of a freaking chess match where one mistake costs you greatly. i understand that you want the glory days were you would spend 3 weeks farming boss number 2 of a raid and feeling accomplished because you were the only person on your server that did this. but take a step back and think of if thats a good game design. if you say that it is then im sorry you are a fool. people play a GAME to get some enjoyment out of it not to die over and over again for 2% or 3% dps needed to kill something so meaning less as an in game boss. the weeks that you spent dieing on one or even 4 bosses is in most peoples eyes a waste of time. shit shouldnt be so hard to kill for little rewards.
the game is moving into a new design of content being easier for most people to kill on normal mode and significantly harder on heroic mode for you elitests and this is coming from somone whos been a raider since bc and been doing heroics at content level since wrath so i know a thing or 2 about progression raiding. i dont know what vanilla was like besides from what ive heard and from some of the long time raiders i hear from vanilla was pretty shitty for raiding fi you werent in the number one guild on your server.
Since when can the UI team implement a new primary profession? The question doesn't even make sense. That's like asking if you'd rather have a new way to report harassment or a new raid.Let me ask everyone on both sides of this argument one question: Would you rather have pet battles in game or a new primary profession?
All you people crying about how this is for little kids, are just looking for something to complain about. It is as simple as this, if you are interested in it, it is not going to change anything about your game. Those who are interested, are being labled as kids.
I am one of these people. I am very much not a child. I am almost 26 years old, have been playing this game since it came out. Yes it is very much a pokemon battle system rip off. But that is a fun game. If you enjoy turn based rpgs, there is a good chance you will like this system. Yes I used to play Pokemon back in middle school. That does not mean I am a child. I just enjoy something from my child hood.
All you crying about this, you are just wasting your time, as well as everyone elses.
