I doubt it. While it has indeed alot of similarities to TF2 (aka free game) its a new, standalone AAA tittle. Will it being B2P impact amount of people playing it ? Of course it will. Will it make it less beneficial ? Time will tell. So far we are yet to see if Overwatch will "pick up" or will it follow many others of its kind and vanish into nothingness after 6 months.
World of Warcraft has a higher chance of going f2p than Overwatch, it will have enough players to sustain it for a very long time and their current b2p model is perfect for it.
All heroes free, all maps free and able to get everything by simply playing the game.

Wait... we're expected to have to PAY for the video game that took them countless hours and dollars to develop? What's next, making us pay to watch movies in the theater?

I honestly think if Overwatch went F2P they would have more players and in turn make more money.
thats just IMO, i think the model would work perfect for a game like overwatch.
Make new champions sell those
Make really high quality skins and sell those as well.
Gamer at Heart, Always willing to level up my game-play experience. Desire for gaining advantage in video games tier lists, are those that provide me a guide. not just a direction, but a path i can set for myself to grow.
Considering the amount of good FPS games around that are free and the obvious decline in population once the hype turns down, i give it about a year. Followed by hefty price reductions paired with a sort of expansion release a half year later.
I'm not buying it without it having a trial, too many FPS games around that think they are amazing plus they haven't really blown me away with hots either PvP wise / player skill wise.
I am honestly not sure.
If the player population seems low, perhaps blizz will make it free2play after a few months.
CS:GO you have to buy the game, yet has purchasable cosmetic stuff... Overwatch will be the same.
Where CS:GO had its history of CS to rely on to its success, Overwatch has the Blizzard name to rely on and should equally do well.
It will probably not go F2P in the near future. The base game is pretty inexpensive as it is (unless you buy the special editions) and there will be micro transactions in the form of loot boxes (that you can earn on your own as well), which is fairly similar to how CS: GO does it. New content will be added over time as well, so Overwatch will have solid base to stand on for future growth.
Perhaps years later we will see a shift to F2P like how Team Fortress 2 did it, but I would not count on it. Overwatch has got a fair amount of attention despite not being released as of yet, so I have my doubts about any change in the monetisation system.

Every time Blizzard makes a game, people makes threads about how nobody will play them, and lo and behold, they all become very popular, very quickly, and stay that way. Blizzard is a strong brand, and the game is getting a lot of buzz, and the icon is going to sit there for everyone who plays a Blizzard game to see.
game is fun, good and higly polished
it's plays very well from the point you pick up the controller or keyboard and mouse.
it won't go f2p, just like diablo 3 still isn't f2p or WoW still isn't f2p even tho people keep making a thread about it once a week for the past 5 years talking about how they think the game is bad, and because their opinion matters it will go f2p.
it's a good game and it's been a long time since i've played such a polished and well-rounded game

I think you are smoking something if you think this is going f2p soon.
