There was a video in this thread where it was apparently filmed at a window of some house and tanks were rolling under it, with loud cheering at the background.

Too lazy to go dick it up. Search the thread if you care.

If that's a slap in the face of democracy, how would you describe Erdogan's two rigged elections, his attempts to deny people freedom of speech, making protests illegal, attempting to stop any future elections?

I'm sure there's other tweets but it's not like you are posting anything contrary to it.

The leader of Istanbul's branch of the army just said he is not supporting the coup.

Excuse me what? You think a bunch of civilians with AR-15's and other small arms are going to impede the most powerful military in the world? When the M1 Abrams roll through your down they're going to be stopped by a bunch of random people with small arms?

No. The right to bear arms was only relevant when the army was similarly armed to the populace.

Americans will never stop surprising me with how they always link any events with themselves. There is a major event happening right now in Turkey and you are just bullshiting here about your gun rights. You think anyone cares?

    What?

You really don't know how democracy works.

If a US Government took away parts of your Constitution and the US military said they were going to intervene to stop that happening, which side would you be on?

Actually we have it in case of several reasons pulling off a coup being one of them.

My radio station had someone from Istanbul saying that some people have taken to the streets but they wouldn't really call it much

Just ignore Tennisace already, he's CLEARLY one of those who shall not be mentioned, according to the rules. He's basically derailing the entire thread at this point (which in itself is a tad impressive).

On topic: Doesn't look all too good, regarding this little coup, does it. Still hoping they will manage to oust Erdogan though, that douche wouldn't be missed by many.

Jesus. Trying to bodily block a tank in the middle of an actual armed confrontation strikes me as a very bad idea.
'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers clogged with rotting red
And there they lay I damn me eyes
    All lookouts clapped on Paradise
All souls bound just contrarywise, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

... I don't even... It's obvious that the on-air media supports the government, because they weren't captured by the coupers. The media captured were shot down.

Yup, a bunch of redneck's with guns could definitely overthrow the might of the US military...

A simple query: Which Turkish politician said the following: "Democracy is like a train, you get off it when you reach your destination"?
