Under normal circumstances you can fire anyone for just about anything you please. If they're hired under contract, it may be different, but there are probably still a bunch of rules pertaining to conduct off the clock because you can still become a liability to the company.

I just personally don't think people need to go on an apology tour every time they do something that is deemed offensive.
