Mate, you are comparing segregation in one or a few dorm sections (and lack of it everywhere else) with segregation that isn't only widespread and leaves no alternatives, but is even lawfully established. Comparing this case to segregation in 50-s is similar to comparing Sanders to Stalin: "Both are socialists, and Stalin was bad, so Sanders has to be equally bad!"

Comparing one small case of non-forced racial segregation to a legal enforced mass discrimination is pretty idiotic, yes. Sure, the processes are somewhat similar, but the scales differ too much.

Yeah, the term "Regressive Left" is just becoming more and more apt by the day. I posted a mini-rant on a friend's facebook post about how modern liberalism is like the bizarro mirror of 1950's ideals, with draconian views on sex (though not because of religious/moral reasons, but an unhealthy obsession with sexual victimhood), tolerating bigotry (as long as the target of bigotry is white, and preferrably a white male), and now, they want to bring back segregation.

What exactly is their disadvantage? They can sign up for classes anonymously through the Internet, sit in a class without needing to speak to anyone or be spoken too, have their homework and tests graded anonymously by student ID number, etc. Never has there been a more level playing field than now.

Basically the university decided to create housing centers for people who wanted to learn about issues affecting minority communities. I think they set up 4 if I remember -- blacks being one of them.

These housing centers, however, are open to all students. So it's really REALLY a non issue when you look at all the facts.

As for "segregation", that is illegal and isn't what CSULA is doing.

The College Fix is lying by omission (in court, this is the part where you swear to tell the whole truth). They omitted the portion of the statement from Robert Lopez (Director of Communications at CSULA) where he clearly stated that any and all CSULA students are welcome to apply for housing in the community:

This living-learning community focuses on academic excellence and learning experiences that are inclusive and non-discriminatory. This community is open to all students.

What is being offered is themed housing...and CSULA isn't the first (themed housing exists in both public and private universities across the country).

This is just another RW created story that takes a sprinkle of truth and mixes in more than a few lies, and a ton of disingenuous speculation to make something out of nothing.

For those that believe in this "Regressive Left", why do all the stories that are used to prove your points filled with lies and disingenuous nonsense? If the "Regressive Left" was so pervasive, you should be able to provide solid articles without all the lies and missing context. It is a odd issue. It is clearly racist however it falls under the category of the progressive stack so people feel compelled to defend it.

If you change the color of the people to question to white I could see it causes a massive shitstorm.

I am not against segregation so long as they are willing to accept white only areas as well. That said I am rather amused watching certain posters here try to reconcile their beliefs with this.

It essentially happens still in private schools, especially still in the bible belt. Minorities are under-represented in private schools in general.

In Mississippi, Benton Academy and Carroll Academy were such schools where no African-Americans attended at all in 2010. I didn't hear any screams of outraged then, why now? These manufactured cries of intolerance, just show how disingenuous the entire argument is.
