Yeah, don't try that euro conversion nonsense, I can assure you, looking at steam there are no other £49.99 games. (I think the Witcher 3 pulled the £50, but can't think of any others)
I'm not in a situation in my life where paying £10 more means my kids go hungry, I'm in a position in life where £10 extra for a game in a clear cash grab isn't beneficial to me, so i'll sit and wait until its a lot less now.
Well then I guess you should be happy you've gotten hugely discounted games all this time while us euro users pay much more for them.
Also you know, there are things like the Brexit which affect economy, and thus the prices of products. Perhaps you can blame the higher prices on that.
The last Civ game I played was 3, and I think VI might be the one that pulls me back in again. I watched some vids on YT, it looks good.
So, played 2 games of "one more turn" since release - and really, it is not civ anymore, but in a good way. I'm quite the veteran of the series, and I went in blind on purpose, no spoilers you know, the amount of changes is staggering. And I don't feel like it will need an expansion and a million DLC either, it's already all there
And I never thought I heard myself say this about a 4x, but damn... these graphics are beautiful, altough it makes me spend a lot of time in strategic view, its .. gorgeous on maxed out settings!
But, to those who also play.. do you guys notice something weird going on with Rome?
As in, both games I played had Rome in it, and he takes the concept of "city sprawl" to a while different level, talking 15+ cities when the next AI has maybe 3 or 4...
I don't mind to much as it keeps the game interesting but at the same time, I wonder if this is an actual bug, I cannot see any AI only game where Rome, if allocated, wouldn't win it like this!
edit: only minus I should add, is that the AI still does not take technological supremacy in account. It gets funny having Rome berate you at having "no military of consequence", when you got a tank on every city & he is running around with 20 horses. Civ 5 had this as well, makes no sense.

If you can't beat Rome, play it!
I'm liking midget Cleo to much at the moment, seems very favored towards a good desert start, and desert resources are nice!
My next game will probably be Peter though, not so much because his +1 on tundra looks amazing, but also because i noticed the AI doesn't seem very keen to settle tundra at all, makes early expansion a lot more focused (grab non tundra at start, worry about tundra later)
Dunno, having a blast

The first time I am struggling to survive in this game. I can't go more than 20 turns without being invaded and I can't figure out a way to get a strong enough military at 3600 BC to make it.
I'm not a huge fan of the builders and only 3 charges. I just want to automate them so I can focus on other stuff. =(
What difficulty are you playing on?
The default prince difficulty is a tad bit harder then it was in civ5 tbh.
I'm playing on king, and most wonders are a no go, unless you beeline you won't beat the AI at them, period.
As for making it on high difficulty, early walls are good, archers are good, and especially archers are cheap to produce.
Early warmonger AI, best to play the diplo game early, keep them as friends, send them some stuff etc, they will usually go to war with someone else.
That allows you much needed time to get your defense in order

I don't mind it as much, but I have been going for pyramids early every game so far. Cleo <3

So I basically spent half of the time since Civ 6 released on playing. Is it just me or does it just not feel finished? There are so many strange things or things that feel like lacking from a 'new' game. For instance you cannot destroy/raize your own cities, which is odd. Religion information seems to be lacking (you cant see how many followers there are). After having won the game there is no video playback which has been there since what, Civ 3? And the AI just keeps playing wth warriors/horsemen even in the modern era.
It just doesn't feel that smooth. I guess I'll have to wait untill things get patched. Any idea when that may be? How does it feel for you guys?
Don't get me wrong, I like the game. The visuals are awesome and especially the district system and the boosting system feel great.
"This is no swaggering askari, no Idi Amin Dada, heavyweight boxing champion of the King's African Rifles, nor some wide shouldered, medal-strewn Nigerian general. This is an altogether more dangerous dictator - an intellectual, a spitefull African Robespierre who has outlasted them all." - The Fear: Robert Mugabe and the martyrdom of Zimbabwe, Peter Godwin.
You can see followers (even individual religions) through the weird looking wheel icon when you have a missionary selected. It is a bit odd way of showing it, I agree.
AI playing with warriors/horsemen sounds like you are playing a low difficulty, at king I have quite some issues keeping up with some AI.
To be fair, AI in any civ game has never been good, but as a base for multiplayer, civ6 feels much more completed then any other civ in years.
Not that there are no issues, but for me so far these have been mostly UI related, and some minor bugs here and there, that they can fix in a patch, it won't need an expansion
edit:
Things I do miss, after some thinking..
- An Earth map, like.. for real
- The game to remember my last picks on game creation, when making a new game (not that this has been in any other civ game, but it is annoying me nonetheless)
- Easier to see borders (or being able to pick a color, instead of being civ dependant - some are just fine)

It's on Prince.
I don't think I even have anything to give them. I get all of two cities set down and maybe a single warrior trained and suddenly I'm being invaded, every time. I don't even have time to make any improvements or research more than one or two things. Maybe the game speed is too fast...
I think that is your problem
I train 2 or 3 warriors before I even consider building anything else, including workers & settlers!
The concept of early REX definately works (looking at you, Peter) in civ6, but you cannot start right from the start, you need a few defensive forces very early on to deal with barbs and to deter early warmongers. I found this out the hard way as well
Now I don't build a settler unless i have a warrior to escort it straight away & then focus on getting an archer in that new city asap, that seems to work just fine.
edit: playing on faster then normal speed? I only play normal atm for testing things out, might just drop down one to epic at some point and up the difficulty once i get the grasp of the micro in this civ.

Just finished a game on King difficulty as France, winning via Culture.
Love it, although some of the changes are overwhelming. I really like how much you can specialize and customize more with how the civics and districts work.
AI doesn't seem as idiotic either, other then barbs who were suiciding into my superior units.
Can't wait to play more. This will be my way of spending lazy Saturdays for the forseeable future.
