I guess now they're finding out playing identity politics and stereotyping certain non-protected groups isn't so good for winning elections. The best thing the left can do is kick out those types and actually become progressive again to maybe win some elections.

Merkel's CDU is Germany's conservative party.

I mean, it's more complicated than that because political situations are complex and different from country to country, but of the CDU and SDP, the former is what we would traditionally consider the "right wing" party.

I think this obsession with Merkel is really just evidence of a massive culture shock right wing Americans have when looking at European politics.

Great article here and I have to say, I really agree. The stakes are at an all time high. Given the way the world is going, we all need Mr Trudeau to succeed and inspire hope. When we see the rise in hate crimes elsewhere, it speaks volumes why a leader who inspires others and preaches tolerance and understanding is needed!
