From WoW's own naming policy (https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/100550):
Usually I just roll my eyes at them because sooner or later they will get reported and have to change it.Serious Violations
Serious violations include any names that: Have any connotations of major religions or religious figures (e.g. Jesus, Christianity, Buddha).
"Oh, you know what? You could bitch about anything couldn't you?" - Leonard L. Church
Lucifer being an actual name, sounds nice, rolls off the tongue. Vs XXLegOLASLOTRXX
I mean they're not even remotely the same.

So no David, Matthew, John, Thomas, Judas, Simon etc etc etc etc.
That's fucking stupid of wow's policy. Major relations should have 0 to do with anything. Because X group has imaginary friend Y you can't have A as a character name because it turns out someone else wrote a fiction book about him before the game.
Dragonflight Summary, "Because friendship is magic"
So is it just that particular name? Or generic names in general?
Not to be rude, but Ravenmoon sounds like one of those "Choose The first letter for your last name, and the last letter of your last name" Twilight werewolf name generators.
Lucifer became fallen when he questioned the absurdness and childlike behavior of God. By pointing out the paradox that is the Judeo-Christian God, that a person cannot be everything and not be evil, nor can one know everything and not know evil. He also points out the illusion of choice. You can choose to follow God, and if you do you live forever, but choose wrong... and I'm gonna kill you/let you die.
Lucifer is a parody to the existence of God.
Are paladins not champions of light and truth... aka knowledge. Remember when Satan tempted Adam and Eve to eat from the tree of knowledge.
In terms of demon hunters, falling from grace to become something "evil" to defeat a perceived "evil" embodies demon hunter lore perfectly.
Lucifer questioned the fairness of God and was punished for it. Change your perspective a bit and the names absolutely become appropriate albeit cliche.
I don't think any names are overly creative these days. My demon hunter for example "Felthazzar"
Which is "Fel" (made up energies of Azeroth) and Balthazar (another fallen angel). and extra "z" for aesthetics and good measure.
i had it on my account i shared with my brother (so even if i kept it, then i wouldent actuallty have it as he got that account banned late wrath)
on my warrior i had it, but i sold it in late BC because i dident know the lore behind it, thought it was a cool weapon but i was a lock main and needed some gold, and dident really wanna play my tank alt anymore
I don't think it's appropriate, but seems sometimes blizz just doesn't seem to care or it doesn't get reported enough.
On the topic of names, I recently reported someone called Heatler in a BG and he got instant kicked and apparently forced into name change since the character disappeared from armory as I could make a character with that name, which I later deleted 5 minutes later.
However for years there's someone called Katyperry on my realm, which just doesn't seem to be changed even tho it violates this rule:
Consist of any references to the real world, including people and places (Britneyspears, Newyork, Austinpowers).
Also there are a billion different spellings illidan names but again it seems allowed despite this rule:
Include names of World of Warcraft realms, zones, or names of major characters from Warcraft lore.
But really the names I hate the most are those multi word sentences or slightly altered spellings of offensive words like "futbucker" or something but again, I see them so often again it doesn't seem to get punished at all.
Are pornographic in nature.
Serenity has a DH called Sicklikeme for example, doesnt seem too different to their example of "Ilikebeans" really in terms of this rule:
Consist of a partial or complete sentence contained within the name (Hihowareyou, Ilikebeans).
Yes I might be a nitpick when it comes to details, but I know I am not blizzard, in the end it's up to them.

Pretty sure my demon hunters name is Enkeli. So, pretty much in same vane. But, then again. At least it's a name.
Well, those names only have meanings to some people. Yes, even though not everyone is religious could have heard of them.
Personally, I do not care. You could easily name your chars with a reference in some foreign culture and no one would know nor care. Would you care about some foreign deity you never heard of?
Just did a pug NH with someone named satansomethingiforget. Group made us get on discord, the satan guy was really annoying and not good. I kept calling him santa, he kept getting pissed. I'd rate the whole experience a perfect 5/7
Even if people use the name cause they think it's cool from a TV series or something (there is a mr satan human fighter in dragonball Z/Super) , still don't think its appropriate myself.

That violates at least 1 rule by default then , multi word names arent technically allowed.
Lucifer means something like 'light-carrier' or 'light-bringer' in latin, so it's a really good name for a Paladin.
