There are still multiple investigations into Flynn going on right now. This isn't an inherently partisan issue, even if it's caught up in this game of partisan football.

In the process this will split their base, and I doubt Trump will go easily, so expect a lot of reprisals on the GOP from him. I think the funny thing, is that people were warned that this will be bad for the GOP in the long run... but they were too blind "sticking it to liberals".... because hurting liberals is worth more than harming the country and our reputation around the world to Trumpists.

I agree with @Skroe that (some in) the GOP and Trump supporters sold their soul, and abandoned the values this country stands for believing the honey primed language of an incompetent demagogue.

I think that the republicans electing Trump will do to the whole of the US what Pete Wilson did to California. It will so turn off the up and coming generations that its going to destroy the republican party over the long term. They are already facing a demographic catastrophe and electing Trump has made it significantly worse. They have vastly worsened their standing with the under 45's and are locking the bulk of those voters into the democratic party, with their regressive, nativist, and xenophobic views which Trump expresses daily via the presidential foghorn. It'll take time to play out of course, but I think with the election of Trump the end result is now a foregone conclusion. This was about the last chance they had to change course (it was likely too late already), but their regressive base simply would not let them do it. That base is too far gone in its extremism.

He made a phone call, that reportedly didn't discuss anything improper. He told the VP he couldn't remember discussing sanctions. That's the whole controversy! WOW!
