It doesn't surprise me that the United States and several other nations are beginning see declining birthrates. People are worked 80+ hours a week in order to barely survive. This leaves people with a bleak hope for the future and the prospect of having children. On top of that women expect more from men than ever due to feminists movements. It is unrealistic to expect a normal human male to work 80+ hours a week at a soul grinding job, then also have the time, energy, and money to romance his wife/girlfriend. American men and women are also more unhealthy than ever which effects confidence levels and sex drives. Americans only have enough time and money to afford processed foods. Lastly, we have the internet now overflowing with porn. With every fetish a person can desire at their finger tips, it is not a big surprise that many forgo sex, relationships, and marriage all together.

This reinforces the myth that sex and romance are something close to synonymous. The reality is that people in healthy relationships with healthy sex drives have sex pretty regularly without needing grand gestures. Our ancestors were doing plenty of fucking without all that much romance to it. A bunch of ridiculous cultural elements have created some very odd attitudes and beliefs about who's having sex and how much they're having.

I basically agree with these factors, especially fitness. In addition to the factors you mention for fitness, there's the direct impact of increased testosterone.

I can only talk from experience so take what I write with a grain of salt.

I grew up in a broken family. At age 16 I couldn't take the constant arguments that my mom and dad were having, the fact that I was doing the family's balances, the fact that they were irresponsible with their money so I moved in with my grandparents. At school I was having problems with the teachers and this later trickled down to the kids. I had to work through university and I am currently busting myself to at least make something out of myself. I am 26 (soon to be 27) with a girlfriend and I have made it clear to her that, given what I have been through, I do not want children under ANY circumstances.

Based on what, exactly? Promiscuity and frequency aren't synonymous. As a generality, less people in committed relationships means less sex.
