1. VP of the actual company cites while comic book sales are dropping off.
2. A bunch of people on MMO-C state otherwise because apparently they have a masters in business and psychology. (Im using air quotations you just can't see it!)
Anyone else see the hilarity in all this?
I'm pretty aurw the president of marvel once aaid they recast Rhodes in the ironman movies because people would t tell the difference between black people. Just cause there high up doesn't mea. They are always right.

Morons both he and ain't Sjw freak out about race it's only reasonable if you want to sell a new character to play up the race as its a hot topic right now some people might come in because of it and long time comic reads know it's been going on for years so they don't care.
Comic book industry is struggling because comic books are getting more expensive. Has shit to do with diversity.
The white dudes know there are always new characters. It's just the way it is. But the masses only know Iron Man cuz yay billion dollar movies. So turning Tony Stank's iconic (albeit it ugly) armor suit wearing hero into a black chick is extremely forced when you see it happen across the board. That's when the comic kids care, cuz now their foundation is being fucked with.
He only tells half the story though - he says that they saw a drop in sales among characters that are "diverse," but he fails to mention that they also saw a drop of sales among their "non-diverse" characters.
It also breaks the narrative when you see that the Mighty Thor (Jane Foster) is their second biggest selling title, and is doing better than its predecessor Thor: God of Thunder (Odinson.)
New video on the topic
Hey are not fucking up the foundation in any way. In the 80's Rhodes became iron man and this is no different. As per the masses they just watch the movie and don't care about
The comics.

He could have still said that even if it wasn't the reason to recast. But I could be wrong and am not going to look it up at the moment.
Wrong.

“Howard was the first actor signed to the film and, on top of that, was the highest-paid. That’s right: more than Gwyneth Paltrow. More than Jeff Bridges. More than Robert Downey Jr. And once the project fully came together, it was too late to renegotiate his deal.”
