As always, the voice of reason. Thanks Endus!
That's exactly the point - the Dumpsters are so desperate to find any "conspiracy" against their god-king they just take any article and look at it with blood-coated lenses for anything to justify their hatred of information, knowledge, and truth.
If people are ignoring you it's because the analogy is wrong.
Are you a major news network who has significant reach as far as audiences are considered?
Did you try to blackmail said person so that they apologize?
A correct analogy would be this:
"Some guy runs around yelling racist remarks. I find out his identity then threaten him by telling him that i will expose his identity to millions if he doesn't apologize or he ever does something I don't like again. Obviously I understand that if he were exposed his well-being as well as his families would be at risk."
Now lets continue with this situation where you have the identity of the man who was running around yelling racist remarks. Any person who is right in the head goes to the police with this kind of information because they believe that the court of public assault and battery might have a disproportional response to a crime.
Crimes aren't solved by checking if you can find a big enough crowd to ruin someone's live.
Except that;
A> by publishing this stuff, this guy ceased to be "a private citizen", and has a public position and identity that is open to inquiry, and
B> A threat of consequence for certain behaviour is not automatically "blackmail".
Where was your outrage when Trump threatened Joe and Mika with an Enquirer story he could quash if they apologized?

I mean, saying it's just one outlet reporting the story is a bit silly. Surely you know we have the internet, right?
In the sense that this is a public space and you've made public statements, basically, yes. You wouldn't have any grounds for complaining it's "unfair" if people connect your statements here with your real identity.
If you stood on a street corner ranting racist stuff about black people while wearing a KKK hood, you don't really have much grounds for complaint when a passerby yanks the hood off in front of everyone.
