Question What happened to big, immersive quest hub cities? Nowadays all we get is 2 tents

So in most of the previous expansion quests hubs were pretty big. We were given new cities/towns in each of the new zones with unique architecture. Let's take a look at few of them:

    Thrallmar in Hellfire Peninsula:

    Honor Hold in Hellfire Peninsula:

    Garadar in Nagrand:

    Telaar in Nagrand:

    Agmar's Hammer in Dragonblight:

    Valiance Keep in Borean Tundra:

Even Crossroads in Northern Barrens from Vanilla WoW:

    Or Sentinel Hill in Westfall:

Nowadays all we get is a 2 tents with a few NPCs.

Would you like to see bigger quest hubs in the next expansion?

Thrallmar and Honor Hold are "big, immersive quest hub cities"? Okay. I'll stick with Suramar, thanks

If you are very honest, all these hubs suck big time compared to Suramar.

There were a vew cities like Theramore that stood out, but that's about it.

Are you just... conveniently ignoring Suramar?

That's because there are no hubs anymore. Since WoD quests follow a continuous path with only little stopover points. I think this way is better for storytelling, but I really miss the days where the hub was safe and the rest was dangerous wilderness. But that's never coming back - immersion has been out the door in favour of convenience since late Wrath.

Suramar and Thunder Totem are irrelevant then?

Suramar is the only immersive city WoW has ever had. It's like the first city with actual houses people live in WoW has had.

How is Suramar a quest hub? The place is hostile. For the most part you are sent in there to murder postmen and steal food. The "quest hub" in Suramar city would be The Waning Crescent, which consists of a pub.

To be honest, the only big, immersive quest hub we got in Legion is Thunder Totem, which is actually pretty great. I agree with the OP, quest hubs with more than two huts in them seem to fading away.

Thrallmar, you visit the watch tower once for a quest, everything else is in the center building. A shit ton of empty useless space
Honor Hold, go inside inn once, go inside keep once then you never come back as all quests are from outlying outposts. Again ton of empty useless space
Garadar, Holy mother of space that is never used. The big center building + the camp fire down the ramp is all you ever interact with.
Telaar, big building in the back, rest of the town is completely unused.
Agmar's Hammer, better concentration of stuff rather then the previous sprawls. I actually like this one.
Valiance Keep, Inn + keep is all you use, lots of annoying walls and stairs to get in your way if you dont have flying.
Cross Roads, so... much... empty space.
    Sentinal Hill, Echo.... Echo....
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

Not really. Blackrock Depths was the first one and was actually pretty cool in that.

YEah, I wouldn't really call those cities, more or less small towns, nothing more. They were more of convenience in leveling than actual part of the leveling. And of course, they are woven in to the story but they aren't much part of the world else.

FOMO: "Fear Of Missing Out", also commonly known as people with a mental issue of managing time and activities, many expecting others to fit into their schedule so they don't miss out on things to come. If FOMO becomes a problem for you, do seek help, it can be a very unhealthy lifestyle..

Surely everyone must've read that ''quest hub'' city in the title... right?

    Suramar =/= Suramar City.

Also people are mostly referring to the main hub of the zone, Shal'aran.

You do know that currently on Argus, it's a very hostile environment, and setting up a larger camp, let alone anything with solid walls, is next to impossible?

Either way, previously there's the hub in Suramar, Thunder Totem, Val'sharah... The Class Halls...

And another thing is that back then, TBC and for some extent early WotLK, you spent a lot more time questing. But after the level cap, everything is focused on capital city. Right now, where you can max level in hours, wuold be useless to have huge city everywhere.

And, at last, you need to see WHERE we are. Back in TBC, we had outpost build years and years before our coming in Outland(not speaking of Nagrand even more year). Now we are on Broken Isle. LITERALLY our only safe space is Dalaran. We don't have orc or alliance long established outposts. We could say that we are one of the firts ord and alliance to step foot on it. We didn't have have to build nothing.

Yet we actually have a very convenient and selfpropelled hub with the Vindicaar there. Armed, too.
