A keg for Brewmasters would be amazing. Persistent wings for Demon Hunters. Wider capes, a la the Lich King and Crowley, but still flat enough to not clip with shoulders....?

artists are always lookin to mix things up so i wouldn't discount it..
but then again
they brought back short cloaks as a thing (who even likes those ????)
I've disabled cloaks since TBC, 99% of them look awful, and are more capes at best.
I've been waiting for LK style capes, or actual cloaks that cover the neck area too and have a hood behind the neck since WotLK.
I've also been waiting for skirts that show some leg, not full down robes. Also not full plate armor and more decorations on those plate pieces, etc. WoW lacks a lot in customization overall.

or even cloaks that are ripped/torn at the bottom... ever since they added those thicc boots in cata (that looked sort of lich kingy) thats when i thought the cloak overhaul was coming.
Yes there was a remove helm/cloak option before transmog existed, but I can't remember the date it was implemented.
Edit: found it in Patch 1.2.0 , 18 December 2004, until legion transmog added things like hide helm/cloak/sho
Cloak & Helm Graphics
There are now interface options that let you not display your helm and/or cloak on your character. These options will allow a player to wear a cloak or helm, but not have it show up in the game world. The check boxes to control this functionality are in the Options menu under "Interface Options."

Basicly what happened in 7.0.3: it added a "hidden cloak, hidden helm, hidden shoulder" you transmog into.
7.1 added a "hidden belt" , and there's cosmetic troll shoes to hide your boots too.
Kinda funny, BRD emperor always dropped an invisible cloak. "The Emperor's New Cape"

I would like for classic Guild Wars 2 style of back items to come to WoW.
Like the crafting line-ups of backpacks. Each profession gets 6 unique backs that become progressively more intricate, relevant to the skill required to craft them.
Part of the limitation with cloaks and tabards is that it's completely hard coded into the base game that they have to be symmetrical, which hurts their options for designs.
I'm personally hoping that gear appearances overhaul and character creation overhaul will be a big thing in the coming expansion...
Looking for laid-back casual raiding on EU?
Our community is looking for more players: Take a look and hit me up for info!
Quivers, pouches with ammunition and so on could be a thing too.
The quiver model on the hunters was an incredible touch that means a lot when it comes to the overall appearance. Having none in the next expansion would be such a disappointment.
While I think some sort of Back Items for Professions would be Cool, also some other Kinds of Back Items like the Keg the OP mentioned.
The Pictures you posted. The Only "Cool" think is the first. I dont see any Reason why anyone with a Shelf on his back would go into Battle. Looks off.
The last one looks like you would shatter all your Alchemical stuff just from one hit.
Probably not. The technology just isn't there yet.
Give them some slack, though. Activision-Blizzard is just a little indie company...
But seriously though, this is long overdue. I was playing some of the new Guild Wars expac and man... WoW is really, really starting to look dated.
Inb4 "WoW purposely goes for the more cartoony look!" It's not even about the graphics. It's the lack of customization options (back items, hairstyles, sub-race skin colors, posture, etc), lack of unique animations (which blizz has been working on this at least for spell casting, thankfully).
Honestly I think lack of customization/options hurts Blizz more than anything.
I'd like to have a scarf/cape like the one that Vincent Valentine had from FFVII:
Current capes are plain and boring.
