The 1070 Ti is essentially the effortless answer to Vega 56. In every other market Nvidia is pretty much dominating so they don't really have to do anything other than thank miners for taking out the only market which offered competition. AMD practically gave Nvidia a vacation since Nvidia literally has no reason to rush Volta now.

As for whether you should buy now or wait, where do you fall in the budget to enthusiast spectrum? Are you able to afford luxuries as they release or do you hold on to a more modest build for a couple years before you upgrade because wife or life priorities?

Those mining for crypto currency seems to think that they are getting rich but to me they are just wasting money on graphics cards and electricity.

Who in their right mind would take a crypto currency such as this seriously? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titcoin

The fringe currencies aren't the issue. And people ARE getting rich. Not everyone, and it is, again, like almost every other situation a "if you have money you can make money" situation.

Random dude on the internet is not making a fortune mining.

But someone who has ~50,000$ US to blow? He can recoup that in a few weeks, and the rest is all profit. I know a local guy (few years behind me in HS) that i reconnected with a few years ago who started his entire wedding photography business (which is now quite successful) on BitCoin mining back when it was still new-ish.

He cleared ~90k in a year, on some old AMD FX-based clunkers that had a ton of Radeon GPUs in them, that he picked up second hand on Craigslist and eBay.

He doesn't do it anymore (he doesn't need to, being booked nearly every weekend for a wedding), but it was, and is, possible.

But it's just like any other job and takes almost as much time as any other job.

Yes, actually you can. People have also bought houses with them, property, a ton of online marketplaces take them (Amazon is about to), etc.

    Might want to educate yourself.

Edit: you can also just change out your BitCoins for cash. And buy whatever the hell you want.

    I call bullshit on that.

Sounds more like a fake PR stunt to me.

Lolwut? I accept your admission of being absolutely wrong, then. And your ad-hominem attempt was poor... 2/10, and im being generous.

Yeah, I get that you don't like what they are... I don't either, but you can't just dismiss overwhelming evidence and try and stay on that high horse because you can't verify the person you're arguing with didn't go buy a brand new frickin' car with Bitcoin. I've never bought a brand new car with actual money :\

Im not sure what my having used BitCoin to do anything had to do with the argument at all. I still kick myself for not buying 10,000 BTC for like 150$ from a friend back in the day. If i had, id be retired right now. Id have cashed out hard back when they hit 2500$/coin...yeah, still kicking myself.

But anyway, i never said *I* had done anything with BitCoin, merely that you COULD do so, and easily. Which i think i categorically proved.

I have problems reading people, so just so there's no confusion, I was in defense of your point.
