One last minute conspiracy theory: The two subraces for Alliance are Light and Void themed, while the two subraces for Horde are Day (Tauren) and Night(borne) themed.

Is there an unused race that is fits inbetween these?

It seems absolutely ludicrous to expect they'd only add four subraces. Borderline delusional, to be honest.

Part of me still wants to see an AU Azeroth where the orcs never invaded and the Legion tries to form a "Fel Alliance".

Althouth it would be very hard, it can be something they can explore at some degree in the future.
Maybe at a small degree, like getting something from there that we don't have in our timeline.
