    Anti-Bullying Campaigns

Do you think they are useless ? If so, why ?

Personally, i think they are a waste of time. Words, never work out in a bullying case. Action is needed, though many times it's really hard, near impossible, because most bullies have many ''pals'' ready to put you in hospital, if you stand against them.

Actually I have personally seen the positive side of these campaigns. People are willing to reach out emotionally to Bullies and get to the root of their problem after being educated. This takes a community effort - which is the point of them - and that is action. The campaigns, the walks, the events, that's pretty active to me. It's a good thing, and it brings a lot of people together in solidarity and understanding.

In holland, several anti-bullying bus-stop/billboard campaigns have existed. Most of them got me facepalming over how stupid they look, and rather encourage bullying because of how laughable they are.

Anti-bullying campaigns are important. Bullied kids feel isolated and alone, and usually reach a level of hopelessness that anything can be done. The goal of the campaigns is to make sure that they know that this isn't true. There ARE people they can go to. It's NOT their own fault. It WILL get better. Butr not just for the bullied kids, but for parents, teachers, and for the other kids as well. They all can step in and make a difference, and these campaigns make it clear that they have a moral duty.

I really hate threads about bullying. They always end up with people say that bullied kids just need to grow thicker skin, or that they deserve what they get. It always gets me really depressed.

do i think they work? i don't know, maybe at least a little bit. i don't think they'll ever end it completely, but hey might as well try. If it helps at least one kid it was worth it. i doubt ungodly amounts of money or time is spent on it so i don't see why i would look at it as a waste.

useless? no, i wouldn't say that.

Bullying has been and will be around forever. It's human nature. I don't agree with it and I think we should educate people more on the consequences.

I know this may sound weird, but I think they need to reverse the zero-tolerance on fighting in schools. I went to 3 different high schools, pre zero tolerance, and there wasn't bullying like I've seen today. Kids are afraid to defend themselves. I know 1 person that had a mark on her record because she kissed some other broads boyfriend and the girl chased her down maced her and kicked the shit out of her. They were both arrested under the zero tolerance and expelled from school with criminal marks. The parents sued the district because there were about 50 witnesses that saw her get chased maced and kicked without touching the other girl at all. Bullies don't care but good students don't want this hassle

Dear lord...really? Yes some bullies are just projecting their anger on you but a majority of them are just doing it because they are assholes, there isn't some secret hidden reason deep down inside.Punishment won't stop it and these ads won't either. Stop being such babies and become the bully if you don't want to be bullied. Its what I did after realizing how bad people can be to others.

Being a bully, after getting bullied myself. I would say it depends. A lot of bullies, you will find, have fucked up home lives. Now, not saying it's true for all of them. When we start going after bullies, what we are really going after, is the parents.

Why do parents let their kids act this way? Are schools informing parents enough about their kids? Is the SCHOOL doing enough to stop the problem?

Now what happens, if we find abusive parents? Or the parents are practically adult bullies themselves, and they don't care? What happens when the school let's someone slide for a state championship?

What happens? How far we willing to go to stop it? What really defines bullying? Where is the line from a dispute, arguing, name calling or ect.. to bullying?

Some people are just jerks, and then they have little jerk-ass children. How do punish, not only the bullies, but those that breed and raise them at way?

It's a systemic problem. That can't be cured with only bullshit half ass "campaigning".

Yes, really, I've seen this happen. You can't tell me it doesn't work when I've actually witnessed it haha. That's not how disputing an argument works.

I put the new bullying campaigns right up there with DARE. A noble effort, but a waste of taxes and time.

I think this would be a more effective campaign.

"10 out of 10 bullied kids are sad, and depressed. 1 out of 10 bullies is killed when one of those sad and depressed kids they pushed around snaps. Do you want to be that one bully?"

Simple, effective, and often true. You see those videos these days where the fat kid who always gets teased, decides he's finally had enough, and puts the other kid in the hospital. It's happening more now, and sooner or later, bullies are gonna get theirs.

I think they're useful to an extent, though we seriously need more people in schools and the workplace to take more of a no-nonsense approach to bullying when and where it is proven to exist. Psychological and emotional bullying is something I have noticed as being alarmingly common, though notoriously difficult to prove compared to physical violence. We need more people trained to recognise the tell-tale signs of all forms of bullying.

was looking expecting this... sure it does but does that make it ok to let a kid get beat up? sure it suppose to weed out the weak but in many cases the weak can be smart people that can make something of their lives without being bullied

Bullying is often a means of expressing social attitudes at a given point in time. eg, women (and their children/relatives) who were part of the suffrage movement received tons of harassment. Same could be said about people who promoted equal rights for black people, etc. And now we're seeing the same thing with people towards other genders and sexualities. Bringing attention to specific forms of bullying isn't so much shedding light on bullying per se, but the social attitudes which the bullying is tapping into.

achieving thick skin has better ways.

Hazing creates brotherhoods but so does other more constructive things.

I think the problem is... Anti-Bullying campaign is designed for politics, not for the actual kids. It's for voters and investors to see that X group wants to do something, and not about "Hey kids, lets not do that"

Just like DARE, its a bunch of bull that doesn't actually teach anything to the group it's geared for, and is just theatrics to appease the parents and political agendas.
